    Yamaha Ray launched @ INR 46000

    India Yamaha has ventured into automatic scooter segment with the launch of Yamaha Ray today. The bookings for the upcoming scooter have been open since some time now and the Ray comes with a price tag of INR 46000 ( Ex Showroom, Delhi). Yamaha is looking at an overall market share of 10% with 15% share coming from the scooter segment by 2016.The Ray will target young urban women and college goers and the bike maker has signed noted Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone as the brand ambassador for the new scoot. Yamaha has also devised and launched multiple promotional activities to create excitement and interest for the new scooter. Powering the new scoot is a 113cc motor that pumps out 7BHP of power at 7500RPM and peak torque of 8.1Nm at 5500 RPM. Recently, one of our dear memebers spotted a batch of Ray scooters on test duty. He says that the scooters were comfortably cruising at speeds a little north of 80 kmph. The upcoming scoot has a twin pod digital speedo cluster and the latest from India Yamaha should make life harder for the established rivals..

      i have to say not a good enough bike. as it is designed for girls, dont think its as safe as some other scooters around in the market.

        i agree the bike is not up to the mark for indian conditions. the safety is an issue for me.

          Though the price is mouth watering(almost 4.5K less than the Activa and Wego),I guess it is a very worthy comptation to the entry level Scoot- TVS Scooty Pep/Streak. The more premium Honda Activa , TVS Wego & Suzuki access territory would be untouched by its arrival.Yamaha would definitely be preparing a more powerful and better one to fight the leader Activa.
          But you never know,the Yamaha Brand name can make all the differences....

              this one looks a bit different from side pose, specially the front end, don't know whether indian ppl will like it or not..??and i am seriously bored of all scooters looking somewhat similar, atleast change that protruding exhaust can.

                      Yamaha is claiming a fuel efficiency of 62.1kmpl ? if that is the case it is a new benchmark in the country for scooters ?

                          What are you dope heads high on?

                          - Bigger than the Activa in both cc and ratios
                          - Low GC
                          - Kicks the torque a bit early
                          - A la - Leg guard
                          Should feel like an "exciting" Yamaha and still remain mellow enough... Clever! Lets see if it catches on

                          And am assuming trademark Yamaha fit and finish!

                            less ground clearance also means problems on indian roads. i have a kinetic honda and have experienced it first hand.

                              Went to Showrrom and SVC yesterday asked for Ray, dealer said it will take 1 month to come, no showpiece either!!

                              Wanted to see Ray!!
