Honda recalls 11500 CBR 250R bikes due to faulty brakes
Japanese auto giant Honda on Monday announced the recall 11,500 units of standard variant of its premium motorcycle CBR 250R, which were produced and sold in India, due to defective brake system.
The company's wholly-owned subsidiary, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, is recalling the bikes, which were produced from March 2011 to September 2012.
"In accordance with its global commitment to provide maximum customer satisfaction and highest quality products, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is announcing the recall of CBR 250R Standard variant motorcycle," HMSI said in a statement.
The company's exclusive authorised dealerships across the country have started informing the customers from Monday for this exercise, which will take less than an hour, it added.
Elaborating on the problem, HMSI said: "There is a possibility of limited ineffectiveness in front brake application, though this concern doesn't impact the overall braking functionality and effectiveness of front and rear brakes under normal riding conditions."
HMSI said it is recalling 11,500 units of the CBR 250R Standard variant, which were manufactured in India between March 2011 and September 2012.
"Honda will rectify the problem free of cost, irrespective to the warranty status of the vehicle," the company said.
The Standard variant of the CBR 250R is currently available for Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Commenting on this exercise, HMSI said: "This voluntary move, the first time by any two-wheeler manufacturer in India, is intrinsic to Honda's pro-activeness as a responsible manufacturer, which will further enhance ownership experience and strengthen customer trust and confidence in the brand."

As far as I know Standard non abs versions are being recalled. Also the recall just seems to be limited to Indian manufactured units only, not the Thai made ones. It's just insane to see that a similar product manufactured in two countries have such a big difference in quality. I guess Honda was right to use Thai versions for exports or it would have been a big dent in its "It's Honda so it's reliable" image internationally. I wonder if its just a assembly issue or a faulty sourced part issue???
P.S. Thanks mod for the approval! When in doubt...... Gas it!

Now one more reason for critics and Honda haters to bash Honda quality and criticize CBR250R . Its just less than 2 years old. They found a issue and they are trying to rectify it for free. One thing from this recall is they are still testing their product and still trying to improve it. Honda as a company have a damn good value system and strive for better products and strive for total customer satisfaction. It rolls over to most of their dealers as well. They are bringing the best diesel engine we can drive to India and they bought the best VFM 250cc bike to India.

Now that's a responsible manufacturer. It just makes them loved all over, don't they!
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END
