The biggest problem in Bangalore is the ridiculous speed limits for 2-wheelers - with limits of just 50 on outer ring road (on its fastest stretches) things get really ridiculous. Then the same limit also exists on tiny congested interior roads where its dangerous to cross 30. Atleast on ORR speed limits for bikers should be raised to 70. The problem with low speed limits on these roads is if someone ever tries to maintain low speeds (I did an experiment of that sort), the road becomes extremely dangerous, with everyone else zipping past at illegally high speeds.Currently without a vehicle. Uber App and Bangalore Metro serving all my travel needs.

ROTFL!!! Then I hope you didn't know that this entire country has speed limit for two-wheeler of about 50 KmphOriginally posted by MHG View PostThe biggest problem in Bangalore is the ridiculous speed limits for 2-wheelers - with limits of just 50 on outer ring road
May be NICE is excluded, not sure again. This means, even the legendary, Nelamangala - Hassan, Tumkur - Davangere - Hubli - Dharwad, Pokran - Jaisalmer, Kishengarh - Jaipur has a speed limit of 50 Kmph including Hayabusa, R1, S1000RR, RTR & even TVS 50

Does this extend to NH as well?? or is it restricted to city limits only..Originally posted by aargee View PostROTFL!!! Then I hope you didn't know that this entire country has speed limit for two-wheeler of about 50 Kmph
BTW, nice initiation by the Bangalore Traffic police.
Wonder what actions will be taken against the police themselves if they break the Law.. I have seen multiple times that the Mamus in kolkata are riding without Helmet, or riding as well as talking over the phone, whick is neatly packed under the helmet.

But I've seen 60 kmph limits on National Highways and even some particular sections of the State Highways. The speed limit is reduced to 50 in some particular areas where there is usually high traffic or people frequently crossing the roads, atleast that's what I've seen.Originally posted by aargee View PostROTFL!!! SH, NH, MH, BH, CH, VH, KH or whatever H it is...if the road falls under Republic of India, then the law applies!!Originally posted by Shibadip View PostDoes this extend to NH as well?? or is it restricted to city limits only..
I've seen 100 tooOriginally posted by Ezilkannan View PostBut I've seen 60 kmph limits...the roads, atleast that's what I've seen.
Those are applicable for cars & cars only. We conveniently take that it's applicable for bikers too
Ever seen NP truck? Next time notice there's a speed limit mentioned at the side of the truck as "Speed Limit 50 Kmph" This means no matter where the truck is driven in the country, the speed limit is just 50 Kmph.Last edited by aargee; 11-24-2012, 10:58 AM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Trucks with 50 km/h limit makes sense but 50 km/h for a motorcycle that too on a highway? Seriously, things here are f***** up than I thought it was.Originally posted by aargee View PostSH, NH, MH, BH, CH, VH, KH or whatever H it is...if the road falls under Republic of India, then the law applies!!

You need to ride on Yamuna Expressway. Speed-limit for bikes there is 80 kmphOriginally posted by aargee View PostSH, NH, MH, BH, CH, VH, KH or whatever H it is...if the road falls under Republic of India, then the law applies!!

(100 for cars). Even the road leading to YEW via Noida has a 80 kmph speed limit for bikes (100 for cars). These speed limits are clearly mentioned here AND these places are also in India.
I have ridden in Delhi/NCR only for 1 evening and 1 morning and I found plenty of roads with 70/80kmph speed limit (for bikes) wherever I went. But that was maybe because SunilG told me what roads to take
.

there are certainly some places in india with high or good enough speed limits, just as antz mentioned.
on mumbai pune expressway i guess the speed limit is 80 kmph for all vehicles, that means trucks also have a speed limit of 80 kmph, ofcourse two-wheelers arenot allowed except one very small section.
but yes, at most of the places in india, speed limit for two-wheelrs is in the range of 40-60 kmph. hell 5th gear of my puny P150 engages at 60 kmph....seems like manufacturer has produced an illegal bike and sold off to me....ha ha

Shoots!!! Are you sure the speed for motorcycles is 80 Kmph? If you've any pics from the YEW stating the speed limit for motorcycles, pls post here.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostYou need to ride...because SunilG told me what roads to take

Meanwhile, pls go through this & it should clear most of the misconception, especially at the bottom of the page - Yamuna Expressway - Everything You Need to Know
There's no 60, it's only 50 Kmph & within the city it keeps varying & till date I haven't seen anything above 40 Kmph.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postmost of the places in india, speed limit for two-wheelrs is in the range of 40-60 kmph
Why insult Pulsar when the moped TVS 50 is designed for 60 KmphOriginally posted by princesirohi View Posthell 5th gear of my puny P150...off to me....ha haSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
