D200, CBR etc are considered as premium bikes. They can charge whatever amount they want as its not intended for the masses. But bikes between 100-200cc(commuter) which are meant for masses won't be priced more or it would result in less sales and with so many competitors the companies don't have a choice but to make it affordable for everyone

this is an optimistic opinion, it is just wishful thinking, if there are no cheap ABS units available, how will companies use it. if there are no cheap ABS units available and govt. makes it mandatory to install ABS units on all bikes, automatically the price of all bikes will shoot up by say 10,000 rupees, commuters will not have a choice but to spend more money, this is definitely not a desirable situation.

for the time being, ABS is not mandatory in india even on cars, so forget on bikes.

won't blame you but you are echoing the voices of many indians here. People still prefer price advantages over lifesaving features in automobiles. God only knows why? My own friend advising me to buy a entry/mid level sedan against my idea of safest hatchback in the same price. He is quoting big car, social image, more space as buying reasons for a sedan, while I am quoting ABS, EBD and 6 airbags as the prime decision for going for a hatch.

In biking perspective, all I am pointing is that if a biker has the money to either buy a 200NS or a TVS Apache 180 with ABS, he should definitely think atleast once about the added safety Apache offers. And wouldn't the decision be much easier for the bikers to make, if all bikes had ABS as standard in India? then we would chose the bikes in terms of other deciding factors like power, styling and affordability knowing that those are the other open parameters we have.
