As for the Duke, i don't think so, i KNOW so. I own one. I also have 2 close friends that own a duke and they don't have a different opinion either.Originally posted by pulsater View Post
Wrong example. CBR250R is infamous for it's build quality issues. You could have quoted R15 though. That definitely is the single biggest exception to this trend. I'm not saying that we're incapable of delivering high quality bikes but the scene right now is not confidence inspiring.Originally posted by payeng View PostBajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005

Fair enough.. tell your friends (and you too) to sell off their 200 Dukes and get the R15 instead.Originally posted by dishayu View PostAs for the Duke, i don't think so, i KNOW so. I own one. I also have 2 close friends that own a duke and they don't have a different opinion either.

I hope the budget has not impacted the price of the R15

Eh? Build quality is #4 on my list of priorities when buying a bike. (1. Accelaration 2. Ergonomics 3. Handling, if you are interested)Originally posted by payeng View PostFair enough.. tell your friends (and you too) to sell off their 200 Dukes and get the R15 instead.

The Duke is still a better bike for me than R15 and CBR250 but that doesn't change the fact that the build quality is shit.Bajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005

Fantastic Move!
As far as politicians and their boys can buy anything with our tax money, they need not think about our pain when they steal our dreams.
I am not using any words mixed with *s. That will not change the nation.
Less salaries for same work in India, Double price for same good in India. === no value for the handwork of an average Indian in India.
Best thing one can do is to move out of this nation, if they wanna have equality.
After being a KTM owner for more than half a year now, i'm not fully sold on that idea. Sure, we get KTMs for cheap and they're good on-paper with good spec equipment, but the build quality is still Bajaj. Maybe a 10% better, but it's still quintessentially Bajaj (by which i mean disappointing). Quality control is a joke.
I don't have experience of riding Japan/Europe built bikes for a substantial period but i imagine they should be a LOT better. I am all for super low duties and foreign built bikes being sold in India at reasonable prices forever. I don't see anything wrong with that. Most of the European countries are in the same bucket as well and I don't see why we are so desperate to be different from that trend.
As Sunilg said, i also don't think that the direct intention of the indian government is to bully these manufacturers into opening assembly plants here. IMO, If they really want them to manufacture in India, they should much rather give them subisidized lands, incentives, tax cuts in lieu of opening a mega factory here. This is just the easy way to milk the "rich people" some more and as a consequence bully these bike manufacturers.
Point being, even though i don't plan to buy a 800+ cc bike in the medium term, i still absolutely oppose this idea. Artificially stifling international trade like this is never justifiable.
My ownership experience on multiple bajajs where better than the Duke/ktm Experience you had I think.!
However distance between Duke 200 and 1L SS is too huge to be compared.
Forget manufacturing, changing from CBUs to CKDs will take more than 5 years from now I think.Last edited by kochumvk; 03-01-2013, 08:04 PM.
