  • HMSI launching a Scooter on 12th June: xBhp News

HMSI (Honda) launching a new product on 12th June, most probably a Scooter.

Apparently, HMSI has revealed only the image, which you can see below. Apart from this, not much has been revealed. Earlier this year, HMSI had revealed that they plan to launch four new two wheelers every year in India. This new launch is an obvious part of this plan.

It is rumored that this Scooter will be called Activa-i or Activa Eye, maybe with a 125cc engine among other changes. It could be 150 too, although after Eterno's failure and the rise of automatics, chances of a 150 seem grim.
Funny fact is that over 1 Lac customers are still awaiting delivery for their Activa, that too just in some South Indian Cities.

It was also rumored by some to be CBR 400R's launch, but a Butterfly & curvy text fonts doesn't quite convey a CBR's true essence, although the "Ready to Fly" message looks much closer to the message.

By March 2014, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) hopes to expand their annual capacity to 46 lakhs units. Capacities at all three HMSI plants at Manesar, Tapukara and Narasapur will be augmented to reach this target. The company’s third plant at Narasapur Industrial Area, near Bangalore, was inaugurated and initial capacity will be to the tune of 1.2 million units, while a third assembly line will be added by March 2014 which will increase capacities by 600,000 units.

A total investment to the tune of INR 1,350 crores has been pumped into Narasapur plant while the company has acquired a total of 23 acres in the region for creation of a riding track and other facilities. The company will also be commencing production of Dream Yuga from its Narasapur plant from June this year, while production of Activa will commence later this year. This augmented capacity will ensure shorter waiting periods for customers especially considering the 1 lakh customers who are yet awaiting delivery of Activa in a variety of south Indian cities.

The bump in scooter sales for other manufacturers is mainly 'cos the long waiting period of activa. Faster delivery it self can make them untouchable in scooter segment, literally!

Bang on! You beat me to post the same thought. Definitely looks feminine. I could be wrong but the contours of the ad suggest otherwise.

        cheers...

Activa, Dio and Aviator are already doing the job good enough .................... instead of pushing new launches may Honda should bring in more focus in clearing the due deliveries to the customers............ and not to forget "TO PUT SOME REALLY SERIOUS EFFORTS IN THE AFTER-SALES SERVICE DEPARTMENT".

Looking at the competition in the Indian market, Slots like 180 cc, 200 cc, 225 cc are waiting to be filled up to gather the youth spirit with them (please don't forget the lack of a performance bike in 150 cc to lock horns with the segment benchmark PULSAR)

Scooters for Honda are not really a driving necessity as of now

          Warm Regards,

a 125cc scooter most likely to fend off the stiff competition from the likes of Vespa and Access maybe.

We just recently received a Dio upgrade. This has got to be the Activa or the Aviator. But considering the huge waiting period for the Activa, I don't think Honda would consider it necessary to tweak it in any way. They have a large pot of money already running with the Activa. The Aviator might just get an upgrade. But what could they do to the Aviator? A bigger engine? 125 maybe?

I think the 'butterfly' shape is actually how the headlamp or taillamp is going to look like. It is some sort of an outline - typical honda style.

IMO it would be a scooterette.

Thats what Honda's are known for.

or a new sticker-ed contraption named Honda CB 100RR (8bhp another splendor competitor)

who knows, we can't guess anything, . . Remember the last time it was speculated to launch a CB150R and shocked everyone by launching the Trigger. . . BTW few more days and we'll know, till then can't comment much but one thing's for sure, they'll definitely surprise us. . .
