Nice bikes but I don't think this is good news in the short term, since it may bring the bikes to the market quicker but the prices will be so high that there purpose of testing the market will kind of back fire because of the price itself. No doubt there will be a few who are wanting to buy a Triumph irrespective of its pricing but for most others it will be another long wait. So perhaps wannabe KTM buyers need not wait any longer to book their KTMs.

True! The prices are too much on the higher side. One would also imagine the cost of services and spares involved later.
Whew!!! But these bikes would be loved by true bikers with big pockets ;-)

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

re: Triumph to start India sales soon: xBhp News
Triumph seems to have put up a veil of secrecy over its operations. There is no news about any details other than that which is available on its website. Strange way of introducing a brand and a name to a prospective customer base which would have heard of it only from their fathers/uncles or even grandfathers! A significant proportion of this base would not have seen a Triumph or for that matter any Brit bike with their own eyes. And this when the onslaught of the Jap Big Fours is relentless in its own way.
Triumph has an enormous challenge ahead of it in India. It has to build everything from scratch literally. The brand name, dealer and service network, parts sourcing, loan schemes... everything from square one, without the immense benefit and head-start afforded by colleagues like Honda and the other three. Even HD has not had to make a fraction of the brand-building effort which Triumph will have to undertake. The four wheeled equivalent would be Ferrari and Jaguar, I suppose.
More than that of the Bonnie, it is the pricing of the Street Triple which will be absolutely critical for Triumph in India. The N650 and H650 are vying for exactly the same customer as will be the target of the St Trip. The N650 is about 5.4L and the H650 about 5.25 (approx figures from a quick Google, so please don't get your knickers in a twist over decimals) The additional 15 odd thou for the N is more than compensated by the vastly higher quality of the Jap. If I, as a parallel twin prospect, am to be seduced away to the admittedly superior layout of a parallel triple, I have to be wooed with a sensible price. If the St Trip is priced anywhere up to 6L, it will smash the N650s stranglehold in the class. Even a relatively minor increase over and above that will turn the sweet pill into a bitter one.
A similar state obtains with the Bonnie. If priced too high, prospects will give up the opportunity to own a piece of history (yes, most reluctantly so, I included) and go for the N650. (At this juncture, and on a little OT note, I personally think that the biggest idiot among the Jap four HAS to be Suzuki. When it has a world leader in the V Strom 650, it gives us completely unfocussed products like the Hayabusa and Intruder. The Bandit is a sideways step in the 1250 guise; the 650 would have been spot-on.Tsk, tsk, when will these guys UNDERSTAND India...)
So, instead of in a blizzard of publicity - celeb endorsement, road shows, hard-hitting advt campaigns etc - we have Triumph coming in like a cat from the rains, with its tail between its legs. The Brits won the Battle of Britain but seem to have lost their mojo since to the Krauts and the Eyeties and the Nips. BMW owns RR, what else is left to say? Hail Britannica, the Titanic is down.
I pray that it will not be a "Triumphant" failure...Last edited by icemang; 07-22-2013, 12:49 PM.

More like Ferrai vs Lotus, i think.Originally posted by icemang View PostTriumph has an enormous challenge ahead of it in India. It has to build everything from scratch literally. I don't think anyone outside the enthusiast community knows the name of the company, let alone the bikes.
Also, Boneville around 6L OTR nicely transaltes into Daytona in near vicinity of 8L. I'm salivating already. On the other hand, I don't trust triumph's commitments any more. They have been postponing the launch for more than a year now. I've seen Q2 commitments, Q3 commitments and now it's pushed to Q4 already.Bajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005

re: Triumph to start India sales soon: xBhp News
This is wonderful news if you ask me. Just the thought that they are going to setup a full fledged manufacturing facility is a boon in itself. I just hope that other manufacturers follow suit. I think most probably they will be selling CKD versions of thunderbird. They might even bring in Daytona and speed triples, now wouldn't that be sweet?Originally posted by princesirohi View Postit is good that they are starting their operations in india.
but it is not so good that they will not be manufacturing right away.
let us hope that they get good response while they are "testing the waters" here, so that manufacturing plans can proceed as planned.
btw, which models will be available for sale by CKD route and at what prices, which are the cities they will be targetting for sales and service network.2013 R15(Sold) | 2014 Duke 390 (Sold) | 2022 Adv 390 | 2022 Ninja 300

re: Triumph to start India sales soon: xBhp News
I read a few articles where they were planning to introduce a 250cc model with street triple inspired design, which was to be priced between N250 & CBR250. This was planned keeping in mind indian and south east asian market.Originally posted by dishayu View PostAFAIK they have plans to develop a 250cc bike, which obviously won't/can't be launched this soon.
Personally I would blindly go for a 250cc naked from the house of Triumph. It would even be within bugdet for many guys too. Even though the current line up is priced quite comparable to their internatinal priceline, most people in our country do not earn in international standards
Would be nice to see a speed triple go by though
