No confirmed delivery dates till now and no detailed reviews.... somethings up and usually all the reviews are published even before formal bike launch. Don't know what to make of it, just praying that the delivery be not delayed.

Also, while a TD was not offered, the manager allowed me to start up the bike inside the showroom. The bike sounded deeper than the hollower sounding younger sibling. But, there seems to be an issue with starting up the bike. The bike needed multiple attempt to start up after it stalled/got killed. (Due to side stand being down, and the clutch being released in gear.) Maybe, this is what Bajaj is looking into.
While I don't think it's a big deal it DOES look like they could have done much better job with these wires.
What's sticking out in my eyes is that few cables are going around, outside the frame. If they were inside it would look less of an eye sore.

lets hope that KTM solves them soon enough and begin the delivery.. only then we all could know how the bike behaves in actual conditions..
The thing is that issues like problematic start up or messy wires don't affect the ride report itself. Reviews could still be published with a note that start up issue (which, btw, wasn't an issue with every bike, as per reports) will be solved, which is totally understandable for a newly released bike.

If entire reviews are being put on hold that could mean they're changing something else that would affect the reviews in a more profound way, OR it's just some marketing nonsense where they want reviews to appear closer to delivery dates.
I hope they're tuning the ECU for some more fun in low end... (which WOULD change the ride reports considerably.)

Just spoke to the dealer at Banjara Hllls, Hyderbad. He said he can confirm delivery for 1st week of August. I was among the folks that booked the bike on the same day as release.

@MG, I believe it is only fair to those who are waiting in anticipation and paid money for it to know if there is a "serious" problem you found on the bike while testing or if holding back the review is just a trivial business request?

Had a very very small test ride of KTM Duke 390 today. Its less than half km test ride. So these are just basic observations. Review is limited to engine and first two gears only :P

          1. Bike doesn't have that rush or eagerness to jump forward.
          2. Good vibes in both the first and second gears at foot-pegs.
          3. Response to throttle is good or decent.
          4. Engine was quite hot already (because of non-stop test rides as per the showroom). My half km spin itself was quite hot and it will be unbearable in summers and heavy traffic.
          5. Did a hard break for testing ABS, Stopped very good, but there was little skid at the end (may be because of uneven floor)
          6. There is delay in the delivery of bikes because of the heat issue as per the showroom. Strike doesn't have much of a role to do.
          7. Almost all the test riders including me failed to go ahead in the first launch, bike stalled and had to start again.
          8. Deliveries are expected to be in 1st or 2nd week of August instead of July end.
          9. I felt at home with 390 after years of riding CBZ Xtreme.

As it was very small test ride, nothing above is conclusive or just initial observations. They may change and hopefully they will.
I have already booked the bike and will be going for it irrespective of the above things.

And coming to the people worried about the wires, it is a naked bike. You got to love and live with it.

I booked the Bike on 26 June, and my number is 8th in the list....
after 10 days of waiting i finally took the test ride, due to traffic & lods of speed breakers in CP Delhi the ride didn't went good.
but i noticed one thing, while pressing breaks hardly (ABS ON), bike makes little unusual sound under the seat... (Due the ABS System)

I asked shumi this "I freakin love the duke 200's low end torque which just gets in you because of the crazy power delivery and that gearing..and can we change the 390's sprocket to make the 390 a true 200 sibling"
and this is what schumi said"
Certainly. You should be able to switch sprockets if you want to. I have a rule about this though: don't add salt until you've tasted the food."

A Small update for Dukers looking for finance schemes

On-road price in Delhi is 2,01,580

Bajaj finance is offered on duke and it is at 11.5% interest.
Downpayment was 63k and 36 EMIs of around 5500.

Checked with Vijaya Bank, though i will have to open 2 accounts (1 for me, 1 for my guarantor) and it will take approx 15 days for everything to complete, the end cost is much less:
                Downpayment is 41580 and 36 EMIs 5200

So, Dont get trapped in Private Bank's finance schemes. Look for a Govt bank finance scheme for ur Dukes. Jago Ghrahak Jago

Why u need to wait for ur Dukes is a little secret. But it will be worth the wait. First lot will be delivered in nxt 3 weeks.

KTM Duke 390's Jaipur Launch Event.

                    Jaipur; 12 July, 2013; 4 PM:

Guys, the KTM Jaipur Pro-biking Event organised by P. L. Motors went very well. I was not present there, but got the info from my places. The lucky first booking's owner was given the big key from KTM staff. The bike will be given later though. They were also discussing about the KTM Duke: its safety features like ABS, Metzeler tyres, Aluminium Swingarm, etc. Its power & torque was the focus of all talks though.

Lalit Suri (Area Sales Manager), Kavi Sharma & Yash Sharma (Directors of P. L. Motors) were present at the event.

Anyways, here are some main points:

                    1. Jaipur Pbk's Ex-showroom price is Rs. 1.85 Lacs, due to some reason. This is the Duke's "introductory" price only, not revised, according to Jaipur Pbk.
I think that Mr. Bajaj's committed price is hiked, maybe due to P. L. Motors only. But no problems. A Bike like that is worth it!!

                    2. Strike isn't really affecting KTM a lot. Not much clarity on the overheating and wires problem either. No test rides were encouraged on this day. They said, you can take test rides after 13th July.

                    3. Good News for Rajasthan Bikers. The Company has plans to launch KTM Showrooms in Ajmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur & Kota soon.
It means that either the KTM Showroom and Service Centre would be in your own city, or you will have to travel lesser distances for Spares and Official Service of your bike.

                    4. In Jaipur, 17 KTM Duke 390's were booked as of that day's end. Amazingly, delivery for these bookings can be done as soon as 15 days from now.

Sorry buddy, i dnt have there details. I just walked into there Hauj khas branch and spoke to the lady there in loan department. She told me about the procedures and documents i need to submit. You can also walk into a Vijaya Bank branch and talk to someone in loan department there. If i end up with a good contact in loan department there will sure let u know .

You can also apply for loan online in Bank of India website. They have similar interest rates and are much better than any private bank.

If you have fixed deposit in any Bank you can also avail loan against FD.

Do a lot of research, you can save a massive amount of cash.

I don't think there is any serious issue with the bike stalling.
Happens with most of the big CC bikes. And as you said Most of them might not be used to it. Engine is new and takes time to set in. Probably the issue might be because of the heat generated by the engine. Technical guys may be helpful on it.

I will be taking a test ride again for longer duration/distance , may be I can pour in more later.
