The reason I was thinking while riding to office today that I won't get myself the RC 390, no matter how fetching it looks at the svc, no matter how week in the knees it makes you feel, no matter how much value for money it appears.
I know I'd still be happy buying it and the ride would make me forget everything about the niggles like the case now, but somehow I think I'd rather want to but a more rounded out product. Plus the next purchase would anyway be 1 or 2 years from now and till then I am sure my finances would be shored up and options would increase still. Besides , I'd like to complete all the mods on the 200(I haven't done any till now) before resigning it to the garage. That should keep me occupied and distracted from the obvious pull of the RC
Ktm are moving to somewhat RE territory? Forget all the pain when riding it. If at all it can be!

And I do not agree that the RC200 can be a tourer. I just said that they will be promoting it as a tourer..which obviously is not right
Yeah. I agree. If people are not specific about the bike type, the HXR will definitely be considered as an alternative.

Even if KTM promote the RC200 as a touring bike, tourers wouldn't even look at it due to the 2 factors,
    1. Riding position: People already complain about wrist and back pains given by R15 when touring. In comparison to RC's sitting position, R15's looks like that of a commuter.
    2. Fuel Tank: The RC's fuel tank is smaller than the small tank of the Duke by 1 litre. 9.5L including reserve isn't a good news for a tourer. This will be a bigger problem in case of RC390 than RC200 as the 200 might get away due to better efficiency

Naah. A mere 6 hp bump is not really an upgrade. The RC would be more worthy upgrade within reach if I make up my mind for. The street triple/690 duke would be the dream upgrade, I mean a realizable dream and not an outlandish one. The superduke 990/KTM RC8R/K1300R/superduke 1290/fireblade/S1000RR/panigale/ZX10R/Ducati hypermotard/ducati streetfighter/Daytona-675 R/ZX-6R/CBR600RR/ (in that order) would be an outlandish one

I just wish I knew someone top order in the Bajaj team who'd help me buy the European edition of the RC390 even if costed say 20k extra.

Overdrive's Shubi's Duke 200 had everything expect the swingarm replaced underwarranty.
Friend's Duke 390 has already had an engine overhaul.

    1. Touring friendly - I don' think so, as the RC 390 only has a 8 Liters tank.

    2. Seat Height is 820 mm vs 800 mm for Duke 390

I agree. I have plans of buying an RC390 a year or two down the line. But going through the Duke 390 thread rattles my bones. It'd be better if Bajaj increases price by some 20-30K and provides European quality here also.
Even my pure Desi RTR, in my 2+ years of ownership hasn't made me take it to SVC anytime other than for routine services. I'd expect at least Desi quality from a player like KTM if not premium.
It's really sad that both of the only two powerful affordable supersports (GT650R and RC390(based on D390)) have to suffer from these niggles. Hopefully all the issues in the Duke are sorted out in the RCs.

regarding the discussions about RC390s capability against the Ninja 300, well if its gonna be a faired version of the Duke 390, it can and will take down Ninja 300 on a track. I have seen discussions about this on other forums and N300 owners themselves feel they will switch over to the RC390, or that they will get it and use it as a track bike, if its available for them at more or less the same price of a N300. One of the major reasons that they have given besides the power is the suspension. They feel that RC390's WP suspension is much better than that on stock N300. Another aspect was the ergonomics being sportier for track use. I doubt whether it will have the top end of the N300, but I do think its quite capable of taking on a N300 at the track.
