My roommate needs a commuter segment bike and was really interested in the centuro because of all the features on offer. I went along with him to the only Mahindra showroom in Trivandrum.
Took a test ride and initail impression was like boy, the bike is smooth. The acceleration was decent for a 100cc segment bike, mild vibes crept in only in the upper part of the rev range(Around 8000rpm and mind you I love tachometers), the brakes were fine and just managed to reduce the speed, may be because brakes were not in pristine condition being a test mule but discs as an option would have been better. Overall, I was impressed with what they have done with the engine, the gearing was very good as well and the claimed mileage is one of the best in the industry.
So, along with an engine that felt very impressive and a good gearbox and acceptable ride. Did I let my roommate buy it? No, because I doubt mahindra's two wheeler service centers and there is only one in Trivandrum. Also the build quality was not upto the mark at some places, like the flip keys feel as if made out of very cheap plastic and the test bike's key was already not folding into the fob completely. The speedo console with all the features still felt very poor quality. I like the buy but would not invest into a mahindra bike till it proves its reliability. In time I may suggest people one but not right now.
Roommate was glued to the bike because of the very attractive key fob and features offered only on bigger bikes(Tacho, Led pilot lamps etc) but I pulled him out and took him to Honda.

), the Ad is definitely instrumental to a great extent...... way to go Mahindra. I am wondering about the reception of their upcoming Mojo....
