Sales of two wheelers saw mixed results, as Hero, Yamaha and Honda grow at a healthy rate, while TVS and Bajaj have declined. Mahindra2wheelers and Suzuki Motorcycles India, have not yet shared their sales data.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India achieves highest ever sales with 308932 units. HMSI achieved 39% growth overall YOY. Motorcycle growth is 50%, while scooter growth is 29%.
TVS Motor Company posted a 0.57% increase in total sales at 155532 units in August 2013. Last year in the same month sales stood at 154647 units. Two wheeler sales were 148469 units, down 1.5% as compared to the same month in 2012. Domestic two wheeler sales were down 6.1%. Motorcycle sales grew by 14%, while scooter sales went down by 6%.
Bajaj Auto Sales down 8% in August 2013. The company sold 278583 units in August 2013. Last year in the same month, Bajaj had sold 304352 units. Exports were up by 10% in the same period.
Yamaha Motor India sales up by 67% in August 2013 as compared to the same month in 2012. Total sales stood at 60996 units in August 2013. Domestic growth was 57%, while exports grew by 97%. Yamaha sold 36432 units in August 2012.
Hero Moto Corp posted an increase in sales by 3.64% in August 2013 as compared to the corresponding month of 2012. August 2013 sales stood at 459996 units. HMChad sold 443801 units in the corresponding month last year.
Mahindra Two Wheeler sales grow by 66% YOY in August 2013. Sales for the two wheeler arm of Mahindra group was 17719 units in August 2013. Domestic sales were 15346 units which grew at 53%. The sales increase has been primarily driven by the release of the Mahindra Centuro.
