    Hi Guys,

    Not sure if anyone knows about this here, but there were rumours over the web that Ducati is working on a smaller version of the 1199 Panigale.

    Well here is the official confirmation
    Ducati 899 Panigale - Supermid perfection

    It comes without a single sided swing-arm (which I love a lot in Ducati's)
    Weighs only 169kg(dry) wet is 193kg. 148bhp
    Comes with 3 level ABS
    Has riding modes like the Panigale1199
    Comes with monocoque chassis and loads of electronics like, power modes, RbW (ride by wire), DTC (traction control), ABS, EBC, DQS (quick shifter) and DDA (analyzer)

    Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 09 September 2013 – The highly-anticipated Ducati 899 Panigale has been unveiled at the VW Group Night in Frankfurt, Germany, on the eve of the IAA International Motor Show, which runs from the 12-22 September. The presentation made by Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali, represents a preview of the Italian Manufacturer’s exciting 2014 model range.

    The stunning model, intended to provide a new way to access the exclusive world of Ducati Superbikes, is described as a “Supermid” version of the award-winning 1199 Panigale, designed to provide the thrill of the new generation flagship model with the refined character of an everyday streetbike.

    Its brand new Superquadro engine features a revised bore and stroke for a broad power delivery, producing 148hp (109kW) with a torque of 73lb-ft (10.1kgm). The super-smooth power unit continues to be a fully stressed member of the innovative Panigale monocoque construction, achieving both an outstanding power-to-weight ratio and ride-enhancing agility with a dry weight of 169kg (372.5lb). An 1199 silhouette underlines the family DNA, while the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) and the fully integrated Riding Mode technologies of Ride-by-Wire, triple stage ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC) continue the benchmark ingenuity introduced with the new generation Superbike.

    Ducati now offers all-round performance for connoisseurs with an authentic and stylish way to enter the world of high performance. The 899 Panigale will be available from late October onwards in traditional Ducati red with black wheels or a stunning arctic white with red wheels.

        That is so true...most of us who drool over Ducatis use it for that purpose only. Other wise if we had a chance to buy any of the super sports, most of us would chose either one of the Japs

          That's because we have grown up seeing bikes from Japanese brands around us...so a sportbike from the a familiar steed inspires a 'subconscious' connect, than an unfamiliar name like Ducati or an Aprilia. The media too, has a role here. I mean, come on, how many of the biking crowd actually knew what Tom Cruise rode in MI:2 before doing a google search? But even my 10 year old nephew knows that Salman Khan rode a CBR400 in his evergreen song in PKTDK!

              Ok I will be fully honest here - I knew the Speed Triple, but didn't know about the Daytona back then!

                  Its damm sexy man.. Woooo.. Ducati is like Ferrari in 2-wheelers.. And we can see why it is so..
                  even the trimmed down version looks like this.. Then what else can we ask for (expect the greens $$)

                    I think it's just me who is not impressed with this design. I've been obsessing over the Daytona 675R(2013) over the last few days. Everything about that bikes speaks "form follows function". This bike has more "bling" than is required. It just doesn't look like it received the attention to detail while being designed. My personal opinion obviously.

                      Its in fashion and to boost the sales strategy for many companies now the days, but its very good for customer to choose from the more the options the more the choices and comparisons and its looking great too.....

                            We've been hearing these rumours for some time now, and glad that it has matured. But, I was thinking as to what segment is it targeting? 848 itself eats 600's for lunch, breakfast and dinner. Evo was even better. Maybe it is made to convincingly counter the new breed of 675's and 750's, including countering them in looks department.


                            But the techno list looks like this model is junior only in the size and cubic capacity parameters... And I believe that on some racetracks, this bike actually has more potential than 1199 and the Jap-Litres. Let's see...
