hahaha.. more like the blue switches that came with the bajaj bikes.. more like speed limiter..

ECO mode probably doesn't allow you to go beyond 40kmph and Power mode would allow the scooter to go above 40kmph

If i am not mistaken, the TVS Victor was the first bike with the "Economy Mode/Power Mode" thingy...where a green LED glows to indicate that you are riding sanely, and when you twist the throttle hard, an Amber LED indicates that you are in "Power" mode.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Well, yes.. you are right and it was there in the scooty peps too.. but that didn't have the switch.. it just lets us know whether we are riding within the limits.. but the blue switch (i don't remember the name) of bajaj doesn't allow you to go beyond that speed as the acceleration is limited..

rreneav1987 Err, silly question, but which Bajaj bikes bro? Don't recall seeing such a thing anywhere on the Pulsars or Discovers.
As of now, we are still not sure if the Jupiter gets switchable riding modes...but i have a feeling TVS would stick to its legacy systems where the LEDs would "indicate" the mode and the rider will be the "ECU" controlling the throttle manually!!

Old platina, Discover 112 and the ct100 came with the switchable riding mode. There was a blue switch where the engine kill generally is. Once on, it restricted the throttle to turn past the half way mark, thus making sure that the bike stayed in the mileage rpm range.

The scooter looks good. I dont think its bad that the jupitor looks like an activa clone.. Familiarity might bring the flatlining tvs house back to business. Lets see.

That's good isn't it, I don't think it'd be 40, I guess it'd be around 50-60kmph and after that it'd be a power mode. . .

The 100cc bikes from Bajaj used to get it..

I remember now.. its called the Ride Control Switch in place of the engine kill switch..

CT100, Discover 100, 110 used to get it..

regarding the TVS Jupiter, it has the LEDs like you mentioned.. not sure about the switch yet..

Yes, you are right..

but again, it depends on how you rev the engine, I remember in Scooty pep, if you rev hard, it moves to power mode automatically and if you rev low, it stays in economy mode..

No problem mate..

Its definitely gotta be a lock that prevents the rider from twisting it further.. I used to twist the throttle (friend's Discover) and I could hear the sound of the lock.. but can't be sure.. someone can put the light on it.. but its gonna go OT and I don't think the moderators will like it..

rreneav1987 Thanks for the effort buddy...regarding the Ride Control switch...any idea if it works in conjunction with a Throttle Position Sensor or is it a mechanical limiter which 'locks' the throttle and prevents the rider from twisting it further??
Even i was expecting a t-max like scooter from yamaha.. But the question remains.. How many would buy it? India is a conservative market. No company would take a risk breaking the mold. It does not happen very often. And to add to your point, vespa was never the better or faster scooter, it was lambretta. India had officialy manufactured lambrettas. Still it were the vespa clones that succeeded because of their conservative and low profile nature. This tradition has been carried on by the activa.

I think it would be a tps system simmilar to the apache.

Victor was the first bike to implement it. But sadly its a gimmick. Without starting the engine, if you twist the throttle, it changes from green to amber. No real time changes in the engine. Better its not a gimmick in this scooter.
