Re: Two Wheeler Sales Report - October 2013: xBhp News

We see all new discover successfully running on the roads. The new pulsar 200ns is a big hit. So why are they lagging behind in sales. Is it due to poor advertising?

On the other side, 5year warranty was the marketing trick of hero. And more festival advertising which we always observe every year.

Future of Bajaj can't be in danger. They offer the best in market. It's just a matter of marketing.

Bajaj can't do that, even if TVS wishes to. The Competition Commission of India will never allow it. It is regarded as Anti-competitive behavior. In other words, it comes under the definition of, "killing the competition".

But the real cause for worry is... Why are Bajaj losing on sales constantly? What wrong move did they make? With the exception of the months of January & September, Bajaj have recorded negative growth during the entire year (2013).

They're such a good company, and today, they're the only one in the industry going negative, and analysts are shouting "sell" for Bajaj shares...
What's wrong with Bajaj? And what does the future hold for this company?
according to me yamaha, hero and honda are eating bajaj's share in premium segment. All these companies are showing good growth and the reason behind this is their updated portfolio where as bajaj is selling outdated pulsar 150. Nothing can beat fz series in the market right now which is generations ahead in design and handling. I have seen people are going for FZ series with their eyes closed because they dont have any other option in premium 150cc segment. I feel (not sure) hero is also improving its foot hold in premium segment, as per my knowledge splendour and passion are almost stagnant(growth wise) from past several months which means growth is coming from 125cc and 150cc segment. I guess ignitor, xtreme and glamor are doing well in market and passion x pro is also doing good in premium 100cc segment.
I know pulsar is highest selling 150cc motorcycle but I think its loosing its market share slowly because of updated competition.

Note: This is what i feel, its totaly my personal opinion and I am not here to hurt anybody or provoke any brand war , Please dont post comparisons of p150 with other bikes showings its bhp and top end etc. there are several aspects in a motorcycle which makes it a complete package. I think its time for bajaj to update p150 and p180 with better design, refined engines and better handling package as i feel p150 is front heavy design which shows its demerits and weakness a lot in city traffic.

Re: Two Wheeler Sales Report - October 2013: xBhp News

Out of the total indian male population -- what is the percentage of ppl who cant ride NS due to height problem???

What is the percentage of ppl who find its design too aggresive.?

Percentage of ppl who will not buy it coz it does not have a fairing...

Percentage of ppl who will not find its ride quality to be comfortable enough for a lakh rupees due to stiff rear suspension.

Now consider this..your bike lacks low end torque, its engine produces max power and max torque high up the rev range...has a very big turning radius.. Still you call it street fighter coz its naked design. ??? Some ppl will not buy it coz of its less torque in lower rev range .. And large turning radius. Now again find the percentage

Now combine all the above percentages in whatever mathematical way you want... You will arrive at a figure which is quite considerable part of target segment... And you have just excluded almost (half) of it.

My personal opinion...on bajaj sales numbers ... A technological marvel is not a sure shot way of commercial success

          ...ignore if dislike.

dunno if this is true but this might hold clues. http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/273...tml#post996466

basically, he said that everyone had a shrinkage or flat growth but it didn't show up because what's reported was deliveries to dealers, not sales.

A main reason of declining sales of bajaj is lack of a scooter. All other two wheeler companies have one or more scooters that makes up a considerable share of their sales. Even yamaha started showing good growth after the launch of the cygnus ray.

Bajaj should add a scooter to their line-up. Regarding the 150, it should not be discontinued but another premium 150 should be launched in order to counter the fz and others.. Preferably a mini ns with 150cc engine..

How about a 150cc+ automatic scooter from Bajaj? With a ktm derived engine? I am sure it would be popular!

But it wont be cheap and wont sell... They need a 100cc auto-scoot to cater to aam-janta, who are the source of hero and honda's growth.

60 kmpl from a 100cc scooter is accepted. But imagine who will buy 150cc scooter giving 30-40kmpl.

Only in TV Commercials 110 cc Honda scooters deliver 60 Kmpl..

..in Real life it will be mostly around 30-40 Kmpl.

The dent in sales figures for Bajaj might also be in part due to the strike in their chakan plant. Otherwise except for some minor deviations they all are doing more or less similarly except probably TVS who declined a lot. The economic situation is also dull which makes the results take a dip depending on the models they are bringing out. Hero is doing nice because they understand the indian market better than others but they all will have to innovate with changing times to be in the race. Bajaj has already taken the first step and others might follow soon. We should not ignore exports, it is good for the country and for the company and help them get international exposure which is very much essential for long term business continuity. TVS is a surprise, don't know how they managed to go down in spite of having good history and excellent management.

maybe because of no new revolutionising launches since a long long time and the declining interests in RTR
