The other bike that was showcased was the Yamaha SR 400, which was first launched in 1978. The bike is an air cooled four stroke single. Staying to its retro character, the bike does not have an electric starter, but needs to be 'kicked' around instead!

Yamaha also showed off its three wheeler. A 125cc 4 stroke. This trike was unveiled as a concept. But is expected to hit the market in midyear 2014.

    Yamaha Introduces MT-07

More news from Milan includes the Yamaha MT-07, a 689cc parallel twin that weighs only 394 pounds (wet, with a full tank of gas). At this point it appears to be a European model, not coming to the US.

Following the FZ-09 that we enjoyed so much, the MT-07 (will there eventually be a U.S. model FZ-07?) offers the same sort of uncluttered, basic riding goodness. By comparison, it makes more power and torque (on paper, at least) than the healthy Kawasaki Ninja 650, but it has a curb weight 66 pounds lighter.

What is the benefit of a third wheel on that scooter? And it still needs a side stand?

I think the sr400 will end up costing at least x2 of a RE Cafe Racer
                      Ofourse it will be better

                      The MT07 looks pretty nice.
                      All hail the vtwins

                      *fingers crossed for indian manufacturing*
Although i don't think that is going to happen

                        MT07 is a parallel twin

Secondly, the SR400 is a very basic motorcycle by today's standards. It doesn't have an electric start, only kick start; moreover, it has single disc brake only at front, rear is drum. Engine is air cooled producing only 24 bhp. Whether imported and assembled here or whatever, it's can't be priced over 2 lakhs in any way and that is the maximum price it can manage in my opinion. Infact, anything even close to 2 lakh on-road figure will be absolutely undesirable.

                          In that case,
perhaps it would be a nice thing so see it in india.

anything yamaha has made has been a notch over the competition in quality..

Although i'm not keen seeing a another big cc single cylinder in india.
compared to multi cylinder i have often found refinement lacking.

Although multi cylinder ( twin in this case) cost quite a bit more.

exactly thats why i said hello sr400 and not hello mt07..a mt07 would be empty 07 years of bank balance

                              ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

its unlikely, might be equal at worst(if it ever makes it here).its more rudimentary than even the sr-z,even looks like a spiced up cube with bigger cc..i respect RE too,but come on,keep your brand loyalties aside and lets fantasize for a while and get high..
