Re: Hero MotoCorp JV with Magnetti Marelli: xBhp News
Its my opinion and its what Hero is doing. And I own a lot of Indian company made vehicles too! They cant even make a engine on their own after their presence in the automobile field for so many years. TVS and Bajaj are far better than this company!Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostSometimes you gotta run before you can walk ! - Tony Stark

Hmm, who knows HMC "might" start building their own engines 3-4 years down the line!Originally posted by mulli84 View PostIts my opinion and its what Hero is doing. TVS got the knowledge from Suzuki during their JV, BAL got the knowledge from KTM, lets give HMC some time. Remember the Bajaj Kawasaki days? BAL didn't learn much from them. But, they definitely are enjoying the early mover advantage (in terms of owning a company through stakes and what not) now with the Dukes and newer Pulsars.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Pulsar was built when Ktm was not with bajaj. So BAL learned little from kawasaki is a misunderstanding. From the number of jvs hero is crafting its understandable that it is no easy thing to build a motor of their own.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostHmm, who knows HMC "might" start building their own engines 3-4 years down the line!

But it's better not to reinvent square wheels in an extremely competitive market place. What hero is doing is nice business move.
No need to be ashamed of while creating jvs. I think hero holds almost half stakes in ebr. Similar to bajaj-ktm relation. If that is the case in some way any ebr tech is hero owned.
MM is a maeket leader. Probably the best partner hero can get. If the jv is successful hero owns another tech as they have 60% stakes.
Sekling the tech to other companies though may not be as easy as it sounds.
Players like Bosch is already operating in the domain.
And some have partial self reliance or set up outsourcing for electronics and firmware.
If the plant is in india I guess Indians will get jobs too.
