The Indian Motorcycle League has been planned along the lines of the Indian Premier League of cricket. The IML will be hosted in three cities of Coimbatore, Chennai and Noida. Motorcycle Racers, K Rajini, Sarath Kumar, K Jagan, and Harry Sylvester were the riders at the launch of the IML. Rasheed Khan is the chairman of this League.
The 40 participating riders will be from 8 cities and will take part in endurance races on the tracks of Coimbatore, Chennai and Noida. The inaugural round will be held in Coimbatore in February. This is an FMSCI approved series and is being backed by TVS Racing, who will be providing TVS Apache 180 motorcycles to the riders to compete.
Rasheed Khan, Chairman, IML -
We have many talented young riders in India, but unfortunately the opportunities for them to perform are very limited. Keeping this in mind, IML has drawn up a plan to provide an opportunity to all the potential riders in India.
"IML will be providing all the necessary riding equipment and the bikes to each of the franchise team. Each team will also be provided its own and dedicated coach to train riders. All that the riders have to do is to come to the track and IML will make sure that everything is arranged for them to take part in the race, that they are, 'Ready to Race'."
This is a much needed initiative for motorcycle aficionados in India, as it will give a lot of youngsters a chance to showcase their skills and passion in a constructive manner and preparing them for the future.
