  • KTM is working on 500-800 parallel/ V-Twins, production will happen in INDIA

KTM is working on 500 cc and 800cc parallel twins for India.
Production may start in 3 years.

Importing 690 duke will prove costly and that is one reason behind the move.

1-2 years back Rajiv Bajaj said their R&D was working on high capacity twin engines and it was just a design study. So now it seems that project has made some positive contributions due to which Bajaj + KTM are moving ahead with the acutal product design now. Also Bajaj said for bikes higher than 400cc they cannot use Pulsar brand. It means now there will be a new brand under Bajaj.

Again Bajaj is moving a step ahead.

KTM shows some serious intention on capturing market share from other players. This is a good sign for the Automotive industry in India.

No, it isn't for India. It is for European and other markets.

This is not just a plan for India, This will help KTM achieve their goal of beating Suzuki and Kawasaki by 2020 globally.

What will happen to Kawasaki in India in future (2014 - 2020) will be an interesting thing to watch. Will this new developments strain Kawasaki's relations with Bajaj?
Kawasaki is not a company that sleeps when market is burning. So we can expect a new strategy for this emerging market. Probably will result in locally made Kawasakis if they wanna compete.

So this news means We will probably see a 100 HP pulsar on or before 2018 Delhi Auto expo.
Or a new brand. Its not easy to build a brand like Pulsar overnight though.

EXCITING UPDATE: KTM to develop 600 to 800cc V Twins to fill in their Product range.

KTM plan to develop a new range of middleweight V-twin engines. These 600 to 800cc V-twins will bridge the void between the single-cylinder engines and the bigger V-twins which are already in production.

Stefan Pierer, KTM and Husqvarna boss, was quoted in the media saying that KTM will soon have a new range of mid-class bikes in about three years. The other interesting fact is that these new engines may also be used in the Husqvarna model range, which he hopes, will further strengthen the company’s position in the market.

                      The proposal sure is exciting.
The Husqvarna engine from KTM is also a good news in disguise... Less differences, more support, and probably saving on overall costs too.
And the capacity: 600 to 800cc.. That is just where most of us "need" to be...

Seeing how their 390 keeps weight low and still makes solid power output, it would be more than worth checking out KTM's upcoming V-Twins.

It's good to hear that they are developing V-twins and not parallel twins. Parallel twin would be so out of place in a KTM.

But the Husqvarna's parallel twin sounds soo good!
                          I
sincerely hope they keep the parallel twin in the Husqvarnas and V-Twin for the KTMs.

I am sure that after some 2-3 years in India, KTM & Kawasaki would be the companies to rule Indian motorcycle market, KTM from small segment to middle segment and Kawa from middle to higher segment.

Why not any company make a parallel or V-twin which can give us a inline four sound, if not inline four than I can manage with Inline three also

I am yet to come to terms with the D390's blitzkrieg power and now a a 600cc-800cc twin would bring another holocaust on our Indian roads

With good service and support they will definitely succeed like Dukes and RCs
