Its a common market strategy to avoid a future model from cannibalizing the sales of your current seller - especially relevant when the future model is a replacement/upgrade to the present one.

Well if you look back..Yamaha had put this thing on display at the expo. The subtle styling changes like the exhaust etc were already present in the concept fz displayed. I guess people thought of giving it a pass as it looked like any other "limited edition" of the fz16(it still does though). The only thing that is making people take note now is the rumored increased engine capacity.

here is the bike that was displayed:

1 lakh for an Fz? Seriously? Isn't that too costly?

Its already just about 90k on-road. So an engine refresh pushing it over 1 lakh is a very real possibility. That being said, the original FZ was already priced at a premium over the other 150cc bikes, and still sold well enough. Looks can saw a bunch of people to shell out the premium (I am one of them )

            Makes sense.

Thanks. I was aware of this blue machine so only asked why Yamaha did not "disclose the details". And I for one still like the original design to this.

The same reason of cannibalism of the current fz would have been in the minds of the Yamaha blokes i guess. And yeah this bike is nowhere near the minimalist, muscular,no nonsense fz that India fell in love with when it was launched

              What exactly is Yamaha upto

Let's not give up the hope. If there IS an engine upgrade, I am sure we all will love it whether the new design will be better or not

+1. I'm not a fan of the FZ-S even , or for that matter the new FZ with extended tail section and super large rear fender

Some fresh pics of FZ V2. Still as per Speculations --> 170cc engine, around 16PS, torque considerably higher than the current model.

Some updates. New Yamaha FZ is Fuel Injected. The diagnostic tool have already reached Yamaha service stations and the service training is over. Launch is very close.

MT125 if launched in India will be 14.8 bhp....so they have to bring a more powerful FZ logically before such a launch ?
