      Re: Zongshen RX3 - A 250cc Adventure Tourer

Some stuff from china is reliable I'll give it that. Some of my favorite brands are chinese. But that's limited to electronic stuff only.

Korean automobile industry is way way way too advanced to be compared with chinese. Chinese originated automobile industry is not even closer to what Indian industry is today. Audi, Merc, Volvo have manufacturing plants in China and that's because the labor is cheap there and labour laws are poor, it certainly isn't because chinese tech has caught up with germans. Same set of companies also have manufacturing plants in Mexico and Mexico itself doesn't have any sort of automobile industry to start with. So it doesn't matter who is manufacturing in what country as this doesn't give any advancement to that country.

This bike looks good because it's a copy of BMW GS. This is prolly from the same company who made Gulsar (Copy of pulsar). I'm not saying copying is a bad thing (You'll be shocked at my statement here but continue reading)

Because every automobile industry in any country (Apart from Germany, brits and frenchese) started it's life by copying well established business from other countries.

Europeans copied germans automobiles when Arthur Conan Doyle was writing Sherlock Holmes.
Japs reverse engineered europeans after some certain cities were nuked.
Indians copied Japs when Rajiv Gandhi was still breathing.
Chinese started copying Indian models after some Boeing 747 were found inside certain twin towers.

So may be 30 years down the line I'll ask some rats from my neighbourhood to give their as$es about Chinese automobile industry.

^^Exactly my thoughts. Chinese motorcycle industry is decades behind Indian motorcycle industry.

Wow i never knew there was a copy of pulsar... when the original pulsar itself is comparitively cheap how come it was made cheaper?.. maybe slashed labour prices?.. indian labourers(industries) are not that expensive as compared to other OECD countires... but maybe expensive than china

Never under estimate the products from China.. even India has cheap products and at the same time, we have quality products

True this bike looks decently built.

Now about Apple products, just near made in China its written - "Designed in California".

Manufacturing a product when its designed and engineered elsewhere is one thing.

Engineering one product completely in house is another thing altogether.

For poor Indians earliest small adventure will be KTM 390 Adventure in 2015.

Zongshen could be the answer to the Breed of motorcycles which we lack.
Reliability is the major issue in terms of Touring motorcycles, which is still lacking in the Royal Enfield favored by most touring guys.
If it all a motorcycle like this could be launched, it would definitely set a benchmark for Hero, Bajaj and the Yamahas to catch up with.
I hope we see more of touring machines in future considering the large number of enthusiasts we have.

Truth be told.. this is just a smaller bmw enduro gs... even if the reliability is good its aftermarket service is something to be considered about...
About zonsheng it is still far from india.. would be great if the duke adventure version is released

It's not always about labour laws. China doesn't have strong foundation on copyrights stuff. Their courts and govt encourage local industry to copy so they never bother getting creative. Big company like BMW etc always throw lawsuits on such carbon copied vehicles and these big companies always lose in the battle. China originated automobile industry struggle outside of the china that's because in rest of the world where copyrights law are strong big companies like BMW etc eat them for breakfast. So unless chinese get creative they don't have future outside of the china.

Pulsar wasn't sold in china so it doesn't matter if it was cheap or not. Chinese people wanted bikes like pulsar so they copied almost every variant of pulsar to date. Google Gulsar for more info.

If quality and reliability are assured, I'd buy this bike in a heartbeat.

I wrote to them quite sometimes since last year and they haven't responded.
Stumbled upon this thread now and it makes me happy

Btw, CSC motorcycles is selling them as Cyclone RX3 in US/Canada.

Damn, DSK or someone should import these to India.

Can be considered if its reliable enough and service is assured, but what are these things:-> humanised windshield, dual flash hazardous lights, starting acceleration, Overdrive acceleration?

And, what in the world is an "international gearshift"?

We've actually shipped these bikes to South American countries (Peru, Chile. I used to work in a car/automobile carrier). I've only had the chance to ride these bikes within the cargo holds of my ship, so i cant say much about the durability/endurance part of the vehicle. However, i personally felt the Zongshen 200GS (I know, different bike, but it might shed some light on the company's MO) to be very underpowered, maybe i didnt rev it to the appropriate power band, but had a hard time taking them up the ramps. The plastic quality is good, but the paint scheme is below par, probably because of the quality of paint and the workmanship that goes into it i guess. This was way back in 2012, so things might've improved since then.

An adventure themed bike is sadly missed by many in this country. That is one of the reasons i have an AS 200 in the stable as well. Real comfy upright position, with lot of space on the saddle to move around during those long hauls. I love the Bullet 350/500 for the same too!

Thanks Jon, you are right. Hope the adventure gap shall be filled by Kawasaki Versys 650 to be launched in Oct. 2015. [emoji3]
