The RX3 is a thorough Adventure Tourer in looks and practical purposes. What it does differently is that it employs a 250cc mill for getting it around from one place to another, rather than a 1000+cc engine. This bike is sold in the UK as the Honley RX3 and in Russia as the Minsk TRX300i. Zongshen is one of the better known motorcycle manufacturers of China and has been producing scooters for the Piaggio group since 2004 with the Piaggio Zongshen JV.

The RX3 is a single cylinder 250cc with a SOCH 4 valve head and produces around 25bhp @ 9000rpm and 22Nm @ 7000rpm. The motorcycle also sports a 6 speed gear box and a 16 litre fuel tank to give it a decent range. The bike is pretty darn heavy at 175 kg and will be quite porky fully loaded and two up, where the quarter litre mill might just feel a tad too small on the main highways. The RX3 can fit in around 55 litres of luggage, leaving the rider with ample scope to fit in his world along!

Is the Indian Market ready for such a product? Would the touring fraternity of xBhp be interested in a quarter litre or thereabouts Adventure Tourer? Would Indian Manufacturers Bajaj, Hero or TVS dare be the first to produce and introduce this genre of motorcycles in India?

Well, Hero already has the chassis from Impulse, it just has to plonk a 250 CC engine, get better tyres, upgrade to a useable gearbox, introduce ABS maybe and we have a winner.

I agree 100%. They even have the zma that's proven itself in the touring cat, though hero never marketed it as a tourer.

At the end manufacturers will do what sells. A sports / Street bike which 'can be used' for touring

The touring section in india is unbelievably limited...
We use the bikes meant for other purposes for touring.. well that is not a bad idea but its just not made to last...
For example - the duke 200 is a completely tested street bike yet it is the new sensation in the touring world...
Even though the wind resistance is next to zero it has succeded... reason: we have no other choice...
Introducing this bike in a competitive price range would steal the show... although i must agree with the other comment about hero impulse...

Considering it as a tourer naturally they would be reliable.. as well as expensive if something goes wrong

The chinese and korean motorcycles are reliable... though they are virtually the same.. for example the hyosung gt 250 which was launched in india was a cheap yet most reliable quarter litre... until the kawasaki and ktm came though i still personally like the comet:thumbup:
