  • WOMEN's DAY - the BIKERNI WAY.

    Hi xBhp Brothers....

As well know that on the March 8th,its marked as the International Women's Day (though I personally feel that shouldn't just be one day of a year, to celebrate this Women's Day,Valentine's Day etc)..now this year Hero Moto Corp created a unique All Women Bike Rally, pan India. Am sure you all have come across the AD in almost all the Indian Newspapers. I had a wish to go there,on behalf of xBhp and for the love n passion of Photo / Motography. the venue was exactly the same as the G.O.D.S. 8th G2G,last to last week. DLF Place,Saket,New Delhi.

When I reached there at around 4pm....there were at least a 1000-1500 bikerni-s lined up & more vrooming in.....I have seen & been myself in quite a few group rides with diff Biker Groups...but never did I see these many bikes together & that too all Women !! Helmets off to all of them !! From Scooty Peps,Activa-s,Maestro-s to Pulsars,KTM (200 & 390 both),RE Bullets, and even there were ladies on Harley-s & Suzuki Bandit !! Supermom-s on Superbikes..Ha ? I was envying their kids, who were sitting as their pillion...Lucky them !!

There were riderni-s of all ages...mostly Teens, but there were ladies in the age bracket of 45-55-65....now that's just a WOW & Sheer Respect !! There were celebrities as well. Mr Mahesh Bhatt, Mrs Shehnaz Hussain, two TV Actors (of whom I forgot the name,as am miles away from those tearsome TV Serials). Back of the mind somewhere I was expecting Mrs Gul Panag...great expectations !! u see.....

    However two things I observed & didn't like -

Hardly anyone wore riding gears (apart from Helmets).
No one briefed the group about riding in Formation (while riding in groups)........

Now sit back & enjoy some pics I clicked .... Click image for larger version

    Thread Approved

It's great to see them move on a common theme.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Re: WOMEN's DAY - the BIKERNI WAY.

I would like to pen down few things in accordance with the women's day and this thread. I have always felt, the women riders are always seen as disturbance / distraction by fellow male riders. Many of the 'Heros' of the road often irritate them by flicking right in front of them, or honking madly at them. Yes, sometimes they ride very slow but we should understand they have the right to use the road like any other male counter parts. I appeal to all to be courteous to women riders and respect them in the road. Happy women's day ( may be its a day or two later but as TS mentioned why just one day for them )
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

Re: WOMEN's DAY - the BIKERNI WAY.

Thanks for the pics, its nice to see so many women participate in what has been a male bastion. Kudos to them for taking out and coming on their scooters/bikes to celebrate the event. With the streets being what they are, that they ride a two wheeler itself is a big deal, lets make the roads safer to women by being more considerate to them on the road and come to their support them when occasion arises.

                        I see helmetless riders

It is a common viewpoint among females that helmets are not "girly". I know, I have been laughed at multiple times while trying to convince them to wear one.
                        I am back!

Very true, also they complain about helmets being spoilers of their hair makeup, with sweat added to it etc. Also some girls feel, if they ride slow and be cautious, they will never be in any accident so they don't need a helmet .

Those complaining about helmets, do you follow simple speed limits whenever you ride and see a open stretch.
Your concern is good, but the way you're expressing yourself reminds me of hypocrisy.

Advocating the right thing isn't wrong IMO.
Plus, an event dedicated to bikernis should emphasize on safety. Most sane riders ride in the 50-60 kmph range in city.
