@ divya sir that's why I wrote- " your concern is good but. ..."
Also 50-60 in city, well then in most areas, 60 isn't speed for bikes on road ( atleast in Delhi-) ,leave the highway speeding rides alone where most bikers go above 80's unless they own a 100CC bike.
    Just a thought.

I have never gone over 50 kmph in public roads, that is in my signature. Also going 60-80 kmph in empty roads may be against the rules, but it does not cause any significant risk to the rider or the other people but not wearing a helmet is against the law and increases the risk of getting killed in an accident.
      I am back!

I think its bit irrelevant to bring in the etiquette of speeding in this context. If you say not many are following speed rules, that's when the need of helmets increases .
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

Thing is, this event was to salute women contribution to our society and to have them United in a field (riding powered two wheels) where man has extreme imposition.
This wasn't a safety rally, it was done to show how many women can ride with pride.
Given with speeding context, that was given as a reference, which in my opinion, is also NOT WRONG.
by the way, I totally support helmet use while riding.

Re: WOMEN's DAY - the BIKERNI WAY.

I remember last year's pictures from Pune, where only the heroins and models were without helmets, and all other lady bikers behind them had helmets. So it looked as a dance sequence where heroin dances in front and extras look all alike behind.

So this time, perhaps the decision to not put on helmet was taken by public demand
