This is true. I am wondering when they will launch a good value for money model. This bike would cost over 3 lakh on road? With the kind of performance it offers and the technology in use (no liquid cooling, 5 speed) would people really buy this just for the looks? why cant we have a good sporty twin cylinder bike at 2.5 lakh on road

Hi Rohit, did you consider the Ninja 300 or the CBR 250 ( i'm assuming you prefer a faired bike). By paying a little more you could own the Ninja 300 which is of much better quality and also more power

Where the GT 250R stands out is probably only the size and the styling.

tried the Ninja. The cons that are against it is that the bike is a bit small for my frame and obviously the price after all detailing was over 80k more.

The biggest plus was that the Hyosung guys are offering custom exaust which increases power by 6% (which is a lot), without voiding your warranty, which brings it into the proximity of K300 by spending just 18k.

The custom exhaust part sounds good Wish you the very best for your purchase!

You could probably post a comparison here with Ninja 300 based on your test ride experiences.

I dont see any posts in this forum which compare the two.

Arjun, here is the deal that pushed me toward the GT250R. Firstly Ninja test rides are hard to come by. You don't get a test ride until you know someone who owns it or you can pull a few strings at the Bajaj pro biking showroom. I had gone their with my wife. The lady behind the counter didn't even bother to respond. Finally, we asked for the price for which we were handed a xeroxed paper and it had 3.8 L + mentioned on it. Location: Chennai Mogapair Bajaj Showroom.

If this was the way I was going to be treated, however good the machine is I will keep away. At the end of the day if I have to deal with idiots like these, i better stay away.

On the other side, Hyosung was a revelation. When we got there we were shown the complete range of bikes. we were taken to the service center, which happens to be on the 2nd floor of the building. We saw the mechanics doing a custom exhaust fitting on a GT650R. They did a soundtrack test for us on both GT250R and GT650R, Quoting the mechanics, "you will love the sound". It was loud and bass'y. We saw a yellow GT250R that had come for service, which was in my opinion a better color choice, but alas not available anymore due to limited run.

Next the test bike was brought out of the showroom and we took 3 Km ride, it was a city streets ride, where most of my riding is going to happen. The posture was aggressive but manageable, I fit into the frame perfectly at 5'11". The performance was good and not earth shattering, something I can manage in my ride's in the city. The test bike had 3000 KM on the ODO and it was pretty rev happy. I could feel the front end lighten up during acceleration, which was I assume pretty hard as I had yanked the throttle open on a couple of occasions going from 15 to 60 in seconds before I had to brake.

              Overall Impression:
              - The bike has a long wheel base, which good for the riding position and to manage the bike
              - The weight is on the higher side but is manageable with the power the the bike had
              - The customization options are a plenty with some input coming from the mechanics
              - 2 year warranty

They give a test ride, which bajaj-kawasaki sucks at.

Congrats on your purchase. Btw did you consider the GD250R which is supposedly going to be launched soon?
It has the same power output despite a cylinder less(I don't know if the GT250R will get a power upgrade later to differentiate it from the GD250 as a more premium offering)

Not bought it yet, but god willing soon. I have seen only speculations on the GD250R. The last import for GD is in September for 3 units refer to the link below, we are looking at atleast 3 to 4 months before they launch and then another couple for delivery.

Hi Arjun, Got the bike on Friday. Have been a bit busy with my family commitments hence will post details a bit later. I have asked a colleague to do the photo shoot so that we can have some really good pictures.

Custom exhaust will come later, for now getting used to the bike. Atleast 6 months later.

The additional cost would be around 25k. For now I am keeping to stock till the runin completes. 940 KMs to go
