    Suzuki Motorcycles, aims to sell 5 lakh motorcycles by 2014-15 in India.

    To achieve this the company will launch two new motorcycles this year. Earlier this year the company had launched the Suzuki Gixer 155.

    Atul Gupta, Executive Vice President, Suzuki Motorcycle India -

    "We are No 2 in some states in the scooter segment and countrywide we are No 3 in the market. This year we are planning to sell around five lakh units,"
    The company sold 3.70 lakh units in 2013-14, comprising 2.70 lakh units of scooterettes and one lakh motorcycles, he said.

    Apart from today's launch of LET'S, SuzukiBSE 4.13 % Motorcycle India currently retails scooterettes - Swish, Access 125 and commuter motorcycles - Slingshot, Hayate and premium GS150.

    Talking about future launches, Gupta said "we will update our products in the mass market and the niche segment" but declined to elaborate.

    News Approved.

    Personally, I want to see them perform in all segments. But that's the key word: "All segments".
    As long as the bottom end segment of a domestic-production company doesn't work, it is hardly left with a choice of proceeding any further.

    The Upper end segment has a huge scope for USP's and product differentiation. They can be sporty, semi sporty, naked, cruiser or they can be off roading/ adventure/ MX... And even in these segments they can have their design cues that can make them stand out of the segment. See the litre class segment, R1's legendary projector headlamp design, ZX10r's aggressive livery, etc, etc.


    Sadly, the lower end segment has hardly any scope for differentiation. Just few needs (Mileage? Comfort? Low end Torque? Commuterish Design?) and even if you fulfill all of them, there's no guarantee that your product will sell because competition is intense....

    What will it take to beat the Splendor, Passion & the Discover? Who knows, these are mysteries. Probably, some ground breaking set of innovations. But those have failed too.


    Reminds me of Zues 125. Max torque at 3000 rpm. That had a lot of other commuting qualities too, but failed to make a deserving impression.

      I don't think GiXXer + Let's are gonna bump the sales by 50%, 25-30% is perhaps within reach.

        Gixxer has got very high pillion seat with steep slope and this is a very big negative aspect of the bike, plus personally i would like to see a small windscreen over the headlight like fzs without it front is looking somewhat awkward.

          There is some hope if Suzuki focus on 200+cc segment & I don't mean overpriced stuff like inazuama. A cheap bandit around 300cc as an opponent for d390 would be nice.But we all know that won't happen!

              50% sale achievement is i would say overtargeted and that too from a company who is trying to sell his motorcycles from 2005.
