  • Scoop! 2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2 announced

So something is cooking very hot in the Kawasaki skillet, and for good.

KAWASAKI has announced it will be revealing a new bike called the Ninja H2 at the INTERMOT show in Cologne later this month.

The Japanese firm is remaining tight-lipped on details but has released a teaser video with the promise of a second video coming on Wednesday.

Here's what Kawasaki has to say:

'With cutting-edge performance recognised as a core element of the Kawasaki worldwide DNA, the company will showcase yet another ground-breaking motorcycle at the Intermot Motorcycle Show in Cologne starting on Sept 30th. A motorcycle “Built Beyond Belief”.
Drawing on skills and experience from experts within not just the company’s motorcycle division but across its aerospace, gas turbine and other high-technology contemporary manufacturing disciplines as well, Kawasaki is anticipating huge international interest in the project that has evocatively been christened Ninja H2. Harnessing the power of the Kawasaki manufacturing group “collective strength”, the H2 will represent a unified engineering and state of the art technology approach

Capturing the spirit of the 750cc Mach IV H2 that, along with the 500cc three cylinder H1 and all-conquering 903cc Z1 Super Four, epitomised Kawasaki’s market defining performance image, the Ninja H2 project is set to add yet another name to the roll call of machines that embody Kawasaki’s performance and engineering expertise while changing the motorcycle landscape forever.'

So what do you guys think, game on?

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Re: Scoop! 2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2 announced

(Posting my description from my earlier post on Random news thread, now deleted.)

The visor and lines in the present video given by Kawasaki, plus the Ninja name, make it obviously clear that its a sportsbike. But what sportsbike, is the question?

Ninja is a common brand name used for motorcycles ranging from 150cc to 1430cc. But this new Ninja has a tag of "H2".
What could it suggest? Some engine layout? But its H2, not V2. Anyways, I'll try to guess what it could be.

ITS PROBABLY NOT THE 250/4:- We've been expecting to see a 250cc 4 cylinder bike which would mark the modern reincarnation of the legendary ZXR 250, for developed and developing markets. But seeing the focus this bike is getting, we can safely assume it is NOT the 19krpm high revver from the 90's.

Ninja H2 could be a turbocharged version of its existing bikes. We've seen turbocharged ZX 12R make heidously unsafe, around 400-500 horsepower in the past, but that was an aftermarket project. The point is that a small engine like a inline four of 599cc when turbocharged can create mind numbing power, but with less fuel consumption. But this is just guesswork too.

If not that, could it be a high capacity multicylinder 2 stroke? Oh, that's really unbelievable in today's 4 stroke era... Right? Then why did Kawasaki say, "built beyond BELIEF".

Because, if Ronax shows that its possible to make a modern street legal 500cc V4 2 stroke, Kawasaki can definitely prove it once again. You can check this link for Ronax's exotic & expensive creation: Ronax 500 2-Stroke Sportbike Now Available - Motorcycle USA

Plus, the examples quoted by Kawasaki (750cc Mach IV H2, 500cc three cylinder H1, Z1 Super Four) are all 2 strokes with now quite old and dated designs. Obviously, the design is not copied as the H2's video tells us...
So, what exactly is taken from these classics? The engine? Maybe....

Whatever it is, but something in my heart tells me that this Ninja will take us to the Kawasaki of older days, in a much better, safer, faster way maybe.... But the same light and fast feeling might come back.

Because, from what I know about Kawasaki, they wouldn't give a new sub name and raise a fuss over nothing... Stay tuned.

I think it's all but confirmed that the bike is supercharged...

We know almost nothing about the bike yet, but I already want one really really bad. Good job, Kawasaki marketing team.

Why did the gear shift sound bit odd to me? Though the rev sounds nice.

That turbo might have sucked in a Bird..so its chirping

Jokes apart, the engine sounds like an I4 with a turbocharger but what is that H2 tag?

~380 horsepower with active aerodynamics! Based on ZX10R.
            Rumours floating around.

I'm still wondering why would they use 2 stroke bikes as success examples, and suggested that, "H2 is not meant to fulfill regulations", when its not a 2 stroke.

Sounds unbelievable. Do we even have a rear tyre which can handle such power?
A 240 section from Diavel may or may not suffice. So, an all new tyre maybe?

I know Kawasaki motorcycle division's aggressive nature, specially when it comes to the brand "Ninja".
But if they actually took it to 380 bhp, even I would say they're making a Y2k remake which would sit on top of the food chain as a modern legend, and probably a more practical solution, not like the mudguard melting super-exclusive Y2k.

Its just a rumor for now.
Active Aerodynamics would be fun though, even on a 200 bhp bike.

I read it's going to be ~230hp supercharged unit based on the Ninja 636. That sounds like the most realistic guesstimate of all.

Amidst so many different launches this month that interest me (motorcycles, phones, cars, graphics cards and so on...) this is the one that I am looking forward to the most.
