Re: Scoop! 2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2 announced

Some screencaps. I think it would be a supercharged rig churning below 250 ponies, could be a liter class but being 750cc is not out of question either.
Kawasaki has a 1.4 liter supercharged jet-ski engine with 300 ponies, so going by that a liter engine would be around 230 ponies. Maybe it is a competitor to the 1290 Super Duke or just a technological masturbation like the MTT Y2K.
    I am back!

Apparently there will be more than one bike. A halo bike to showcase kawasaki's technical might. 300+ horsepower.
And then production version derived from that bike. Which will be less than 300hp. The cost is expected to be around 30-40 lakhs.

It sounded as if it had a turbocharger (instead a supercharger) I can be wrong though.

Re: Scoop! 2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2 announced

Guys, in this particular launch, I think, you might be looking into the past, to look into future.... A lot might have changed from 2011, but still....

See this news posted on Xbhp few years ago: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/195...400-plans.html

Even at that time they said, its likely to be 1.5 years away... Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

--What happened back then? & What now?
At that time, after this news, the "all new" ZX 14R turned out to be a 1441 cc inline 4 machine without any charger or so, producing a still impressive "above 200bhp" at crank.... Maybe, Kawasaki's entire team had some challenges and has now, in 2014, overcome those supercharger challenges related to cooling, compression ratio, etc. for practical real-world implementation.

Because having a supercharger is not as easy. There are real life implications related to weather, temperature, riding conditions, etc. In short, the more the boost, the more it has to be "managed" for long life & reliability of the engine.
And you know Kawasaki... or in fact, the Japanese.... They'd rather delay, than to launch an unready product.

So.... could it be the ZZR1400 or did they change their plans and get an all new capacity which might as well be 750cc or 900cc as a dedication to H-series old timers?

                  I believe, its the S1000RR & HP4 beater, a 1 L supercharged super-sport. It is not looking as bulky as ZX14.

Big Horse Power was always been Kawasaki game.

Alright, 3 cylinder supercharged engine confirmed, unless they have another pipe (or 3) on the other side of the engine. Definitely looking like a sub-1000cc engine.

Exactly. It looks garish. Can't they opt for sleek and stylish over 'hey-look-at-me-I-am-straight-out-of-a-transformer-movie'.
Unfortunately, this is rather a common trend these days I think. Kawasaki especially !! I think the Z1000 looks overdone with needless bulk and muscle just too look 'menacing'. The Z800 to a lesser degree, but still the same. I know we got a lot of fans for the Z1000 here, but honestly the design evokes more revulsion than admiration. The yet to be launched Z250 is another example. What is a fairing(almost) doing on a naked ?
But then I found the MV Agusta Brutale a bit overdone too with too many cuts and creases, so I may well be a heretic
Anotehr example would be the Pulsar 400 SS. Not at all pleasing to the eyes.

I don't mind little extra plastic and angles just for design's sake. Everybody does it. But keep it sane guys.

Now let's just hope that supercharged demon lunges ahead so fast all this plastic just rips off

Currently available shots of Ninja H2 2014. It truly looks like an Exotic Ninja with its carbon fiber fins for aerodynamics. Can't deny that it looks like 'Megatron' (Transformers) in the frontal view. Awaiting the specifications from the launch by Sunny!

Well that is the design world changing. In a few years the teenagers who grew up on transformers styling will buy a bike. Manufacturers have to capture their imagination. And make sure they find them cool.
Doing the same thing again and again will make a brand look old. And future generation will not go for it.
