Rs 13200...Not a bad price too. Since it has brakes, can it be stopped without brakes (by stopping to paddle)?

I first saw fixie in the movie "Rush Hour".

Good move by firefox. Though they might not sell good numbers, it will make it to the list of buyers looking our for a fixie. There are not many around.

Fixies are supposed to be stopped by the pedal.

The brakes are put on the bike because this has got a flip flop hub. Basically you can switch between a fixie and single speed according to your convenience. When you are riding single speed then you need the brakes to stop.

I have seen the bikes parked in a bike shop and it looks pretty good in the flesh. Good build quality. Didn't get a chance to ride it though.

Can the bike be stopped by brakes even when in fixie mode or is it necessary to stop it using pedals?

You can stop it using the brakes, but that robs you all the fun of riding a fixie in the first place.

Read Fixie and Single Speed bikes

A Flip Flop is both of the above. Made possible by the rear hub having two sprockets. One side of the hub has a fixed gear, the other has a free wheel. To convert the Fixie into a single speed, one needs to 'flip' the hub. Thus the name 'Flip Flop'.

I hope Wikipedia has done a decent enough job of explaining what is what

OT: If we were to compare single-speed bikes with geared bikes, what is the gear combination of geared bike that would match a single-speed bike. For example, can we say that a single-speed bike is like having just 2-5 gear of geared-bike?

Wow, the first atlas Concorde I had, (plain silver) not the silver blue, red pro series that came later,
Used to have this flip flop. This is probably late 80s when the bike was just launched.

No No no. It doesn't work like that.

The only time a single speed and geared bike will have the same gear ratio is when the number of teeth on the front sprocket and rear sprocket are the same for the two bikes.

All geared bikes do not have the same sprocket configuration. It varies from bike to bike. So a 2.5 in one bike will not be the same as 2.5 in another bike.

So to answer your question, you will have to count the number of teeth on both the front and rear of your geared bike and compare it with the single speeds to know which gear combination gives the same ratio.
