Yamaha could have atleast given a 200 CC engine or even a 150 CC engine with better torque values, if they are putting this as a tourer bike.

Same FZ engine which was already low on power and torque than its previous avatar, now gets added fairing weight to pull.

I was expecting at least 15 bhp for Fazer.

Yeh to hona hi tha, apart from the engine the front headlight facia is also not looking that cool, somehow previous one still looks more good.

Fi added the cost of 8-10k in Fazer, I think Yamaha is targeting the commuter class, but this price looks little high for them

Most folks who want a faired Yamaha and didn't like R15 aggressive position opt for this.
For them its a Yamaha so its naturally powerful than other segment bikes as quoted by some non-biker owners .
I wish we can have a Fazer with R15 mill with revised gearing this bike begs for more power .
Hope this bike becomes a super flop and teach them a lesson.

What is the USP of this bike . Cannot think of anything.

If i has to spend almost 84 K on 150CC mil, I would most probably add another 10 K and Get a better 200CC pulsar with better Power / Engine capacity / liquid cooling with equally good Touring capabilities as Fazer . Both got 12 Ltrs tank capacity . Only missing part is fairing .

High time that Yamaha starts taking Indian market seriously and learn from Honda, who are vying for market leader position in short span of 5-6 Years While they are still struggling after almost more than 20 yrs in market . pretty funny that when everybody was busy developing / planning 200CC + bike segment , they were concentrating on punny 100 CC scooters . There also they has failed miserably .

^^ maybe they are happy with their puny 100cc scooters. Actually they are gaining profit for many years now because of them.

As for Fazer, its definitely underpowered for a tourer. But would be smooth and good commuter.

                  Ride safe and have fun.

I think the USP is dual headlights. Not bad considering that the FZ-FI has only one 35W bulb. But the key question to ask for this bike is whether both headlamps are lit when in dipper or not. The R15 (2.0) had only one headlamp lit in dipper and both lit in upper. I think that was a step back from the old R15. Lets see what this one has. I hope XBHP team will check this out during its review... And also if the headlamps run on DC or AC current.

BTW, cost is subjective. I am ok to shell out a few thousands more for a fun bike. The only thing that i miss in this bike (and FZ-FI) is the rear-disc brake and steel-braided brake hoses.

Not every one is like you .Even I thought Fz2.0 will be a flop and 200NS will be a bumper hit but its the vice versa .
The image which was built on RD350 still has its effects and every one believes Yamaha offers segment best performance.

While an R15 has the punch this Fz2.0 is a big disappointment. But still I find large number of Fz2.0 in roads .At least Fazer should be a flop

I own a fazer(2012), so when this new model was going to launch I was both happy as well as sad
happy because a new version of my machine was going to come
sad because the resale of my bike will decrease, lol
but overall I dont like the v2.0 very much

But according to me it is not overpriced. I mean i am ready to spend 5k extra for the fairing. So I want to say that if you think fazer is overprices then the fz v2.0 is also overpriced because the extra 5k for fairing seems justified to me.

Re: Yamaha Fazer Fi Launched @ Rs. 83580/-

I wish to share my humble viewpoint on the negativity regarding this new engine, and its reduced power.

I had a meeting with 9-10 guys in Ajmer who were riding from North to South of India on FZ v 2.0 which has the same engine. This was a Yamaha sponsored ride. After riding for some 1000 kms, do you know what they had to say?
They said that its an amazing engine, very smooth & predictable in power delivery and the mileage is in range of 65-70 kmpl on the highway, when they were all the time ripping at 100+ kmph. Beyond 110 kmph, yes the engine felt like its losing steam, but upto that point they had nothing to complain.

Somewhere in my mind, I was surprised. Because they actually appreciated it, more than they complained. And I also thought, would I trade 0.8 bhp for so many additional benefits?
You know what? I think I would. I also think, there's a reason Yamaha did so purposely.

We often forget that the maximum power actually comes very little in our road rides, maybe just 2% of the times we ride, that's it. What about the rest of 98% times when you're below 8000 rpm?
Shouldn't an engine be judged overall and not just by the orgasmic 2% at the end of the powerband?

In my life too, I own a Duke 390, and I often find myself so slow that other riders overtake me easily, for various reasons. One being, that it just doesn't have the low end torque & I don't rev hell all the time. City's clogged roads don't give me an advantage.
Of course, when the roads turn open & pleasant, then I decide who stays forward, no matter what..
But you know what, I hit 43 bhp maybe 1-3% of the overall time I ride. And that's what makes the 43 bhp irrelevant unless I'm on a racetrack.

Paper figures and reality have been proved to be different a lot of time.

And more so with Yamaha... This reminds me of 2008 launch, when we scorned R15 for not having 21 bhp, but just 17. And look now, R15 is a legend. Even a 390 rider like me wants to ride it once in a while, just to feel the refinement, riding position, handling, etc.
R15 is like a diamond. Because, we earlier thought it was a stone. Only with time we realised what it really is.....

So guys... yes, FAZER Fi might not break 0-60 records, but I suggest you try it out for the use its made for: city riding, and maybe some new facts might come up....(?)
                              No offence though.
