    News Approved.

Its a good move. I'm reminded of the past cases, whereby the 5 star hotel was not respectful to some Xbhp bikers. And they also gave priority to car owners..

There should be more such tie ups to ensure that atleast the 250+cc motorcycle owners get good hospitality, while they tour.

Apart from reserved parking , their is also nearly 50% discount on almost everything you can do in a Taj.
Taj membership is also offered free of cost and entitles HOG to Employee level discounts & privileges.

Even some other Group of Hotels already have Discounts year round for HOGs just by flashing a Hog card. I Stayed at Manu Maharani last year in Nainital , in peak tourist season. On phone they said they were packed full, When I rolled down their porch on a Harley , they were happy to accomodate me with 50% discount with just a photocopy attached of my HOG membership.

WOW!! I am highly impressed!! This is another star to the Brand Value of HD. I am getting more inclined towards HD now Old age and these types of brand building exercises are enough to pull me towards an HD

            Bullshit move.

Why does Harley presume that anybody who has their bike will be able to afford stay in a 5 star.

So are you saying that anyone who is shelling minimum of 5 LAKHS INR on a bike won't ever stay in a 5 star hotel??? And that too when the rates are being discounted???

I feel they will make sure that higher segment buyers will get more benefits. It will all depend upon the money you spent on your Harley.

HOG membership is same for all bikes. Free for first year , paid thereafter , although amount is nominal .
Benefits / offers would be same for all HOGs. Atleast till now they are same irrispective of bike owned.

                      Great move!

I read somewhere that people who buy Harley don't pay for the bike, they pay for the HOG membership and they get a motorcycle free.

Steps like this will surely give riders more value for their money and also make a brand stand apart from the crowd.

There might have been some HOG members who might find 5-star hotels a little out of their affordability, but majority of them will welcome this move.

p.s.: There was a time when motorcycle riders were given a second-class-citizen treatment at five star hotels (which still is the case). Hell, there was a time when I had to fight to even take my helmet inside a hotel in Delhi. But hopefully with steps like these bikers will be treated at par

If thats the case Harley will surely bring a complete change in biking scenario of India.

Sunil G surely things are changing with time. Just yesterday I was thinking about the change we are witnessing in regards of Automobiles after 2008. These things feel so worthwhile and I would like to give credit for this to Bajaj, Yamaha in past and Harley, Kawasaki now.

That is not going away. Even the Gurgaon Thekas have become snobbish! A famous theka in cyber city has a no helmets rule nowadays. Surprisingly they had a "HOG owners parking" reserved too. Talk about contradictions.

On Topic: Harley hasn't put a foot wrong in India since they came in. They have clearly positioned themselves well and their tie-ups/exclusive parking spots are very good value for the target segment. The HOG membership/tie-ups/exclusive parking spots are amazing value additions.
So much so that even my car crazy Punjabi relatives (who always wonder why I prefer bikes over the comfort of a car) are now sayin -- Sir ji ab toh aap Harleee le lo..

Apart from HOG membership , I personally feel Harley bikes are good enough to command the money as well.
They are well built , and built with love and labour. They preserve the artistic touch of yesteryears .
Like seamless gas tanks , manual Tig welding , cast aluminum foot controls & hand controls.
What japs did to automobiles helped them to reduce cost and become competitive. They brought on machines to replace every possible thing that a machine could do. Just to cut labour cost and reduce non production hours.
Harley is still a very labour intensive manufacturer ( tig welding gas tanks with two halves being joined like an egg shell and hand assembling engines & chassis components) . Even Hero & bajaj have more machines doing these things in cheap labour nation like ours
Chevy & Harley are loved by most in america because they provide them jobs and japs provide them goods.

Some say Harleys have no technology: making push rod engines and making them last a maintenance free million miles is itself epitome of technology.
They were first to introduce oil pressure lifters to make push rod adjustment free.
V-rod and street 750 proves that they can make modern bikes aswell , but they choose to keep the original dream alive.
You're never lost if ya don't care where the road is headed

I dont see any reason to stay in a 5 star hotel.

A biker who travels alone is normally the rough and tough type(not trying to stereotype. Apologies). And such person who is willing to travel alone in this dusty country on 2 wheels with his luggage tied on the back with bungee strings doesnt exactly seem the clientale that a 5 star is looking for and such person isnt exactly a person who would care about a 5 star in the first place.
