Rumor - Honda patents design for CB400F in India

Honda has patented the design for CB400F in India and this bike will be launched in under 12 months. The 400cc segment is heating up as not just Honda but even Bajaj will be introducing the CS400 in the 400cc segment. There is already the KTM Duke 390 that already exists here. The Honda CB400F will be powered by a 390cc parallel twin cylinder engine that will produce 45bhp of power and 37Nm of maximum torque. This engine will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission and will return a fuel efficiency of about 30-35km/l. Honda will also be looking at getting the CBX range of bikes, which are its off-road bikes. The Honda CB400F will be priced between INR2.4-2.6 lakhs (on-road) and this will make it highly competitive.

Royal Enfield too is getting into the 410cc segment with its Himalayan, but we can expect a bike in this segment at a later stage. So, after the 300cc the 400cc will be another segment that will be soon heating up. Honda and Bajaj are preparing for it. So, this year the focus will be on 300cc as even TVS K03 (Drake) will be launched early 2016.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

If Honda can price it right, we have a serious contender for the segment!

Could be a hoax, heard the news about CBR 300R & CBR 500R long time ago and this is taking ages for HONDA to bring it to India even they are launched internationally.

Now how they will make it possible to develop a product from scratch, knowing that CB400F was an inline 4.

I see my kids will definitely see the CB400F when they turn 18 after 25 years

That is so true. There are no signs of revised 250/300, 650. And now news of this.

I highly doubt this news. Even if it does materialize it would probably be in the ER-6N territory w.r.t price.

Anyway, for people who don't know about this bike - it exists and is sold in Singapore and maybe elsewhere too.
It is a 400cc parallel twin which is sold in the naked, faired and "adventure" forms as CB 400 F, R and X respectively.

                Link to Honda Singapore - 201cc - 400cc

This engine is also found in the CB500 family (available in the USA), by simply increasing the stroke from 56.6 mm in the 400 to 66.8 mm in the 500. Bore remains same at 67 mm.

Edit: Adding my own opinion - These are real boring bikes which Honda seems to like dishing out nowadays. From the single 250 to the CBR650 and including the godawful NC750/500 series - all these are cheap, low-powered and highly un-exciting products targeted at beginners or perhaps the 60+ year-old crowd

NOPE. NEVER. At least not till a couple of days ago, when i saw Economic Times using a 'rumour' from this website as a source!!!

Either they are real good to have ET sourcing from them. Or...

Like I have always maintained. Honda. sucks. period. they are only concerned regarding the volume sales like those of activa.. they ruined their own future sales by pricing the CBR 650f even higher than its in international markets and even they find that it's a tad too much for what this bike has to offer. the CBR 250 also didn't manage to generate a lot of sales..
I think they should just give up on bikes and concentrate on scooters in India because every single time people have high hopes from a brilliant piece of machinery from Honda they kill all the buzz by pricing out of the reaches of those interested..

Old CB400 is good inline 4 machine, very famous amongst bike enthusiast. Hope it ticks all those boxes with inline 2.

Way too many 'ideal' motorbikes are either stuck in development hell or simply not being brought to these shore. The list is endless.... Like a perfectly logical football transfer which never ever happens. How on earth south east Asian markets like Indonesia ,Thailand maybe even Vietnam (no offence meant) have such vast options available for enthusiasts when all we get here is gossip and rumours.

Honda and Kawasaki are still OK in comparison to the soup Yamaha are in. There are absolutely zero options in between 150cc and 600cc. Had such high hopes that the Fz v2 would be given a bigger mill but look what they did! They went all tollywood on the new model just to please the "kitna deti hai" brigade.

totally agree. most of the benelli videos and reviews are from Philippines and Thailand and they compare it with r6 and what not.. I mean they have a more diverse portfolio than our great nation. maybe its the taxes.. oh yeah.. its the bloody taxes..
