  • Mahindra two-wheelers discontinued the Pantero, Duro DZ, Flyte and Kine: xBhp News

Mahindra two-wheelers has discontinued four products from their pipeline namely Pantero, Duro DZ, Flyte and Kine. The company has taken this decision due to failure in showing any sales performance.

Mahindra Pantero was launched in 2013, and there was a big responsibility on its shoulder to power ahead with the Centuro. Sharing the same single-cylinder 106.7cc engine with the Centuro, the Pantero produced 8.5bhp and was mated to a 4-speed gearbox, but it was the features that the Centuro had that made it a big hit among buyers and the Pantero didn't really make the cut.

The Mahindra Duro DZ was designed similar to the Kinetic Nova Scooter and carried the same traditional analogue instrument cluster125cc scooters resulted discontinuation.

Both the Flyte and the Kine too are victims of poor demand. While the Kine is an entry-level scooter powered by a carburettor based, air cooled 71cc petrol engine that produces 3bhp and 5Nm of torque, the Flyte comes equipped with a 125cc, four stroke engine producing 8 bhp. The Kine cost around Rs. 33,000, the Flyte was priced about Rs. 44,000 (both ex-showroom Delhi).

The discontinuation of the four vehicles is a very big decision for a two-wheeler manufacturer. It appears that the company is preparing a slew of new launches in the near future and not hanging on to these non-performers.

I'm listening the name Flyte and Kine for the first time. BTW Mojo's future is already in doubt.

The mojo will also find little takers if it is launched. Mahindra should do a rethink and decide whether they are actually up for the Indian motorcycle market. I personally believe they should stick to what they do best(SUV segment).

Mahindra is a reputed name in the Indian four-wheeler industry. But, they are not doing any good to that reputation with what they are doing with two-wheelers.
BTW, didn't they launch a new ad a few days back?

I think Mahindra needs to connect with the youth. Their product portfolio is far from touching any base regardless of age. Organize camps, spread brand awareness, collect ideas and target the youth who are tomorrow's potential customers and create a longlasting impression on them. It will also help if their GP bikes are used as star attractions considering how their halo product the Mojo is going to be launching sometime in 2050!

A brand without a halo product won't survive. Bajaj has Pulsar, Honda has CBR, Yamaha has R1, Kawasaki the ZXs, TVS to some extent the Apache. What is Mahindra's halo product?
