  • Update Honda CBR500R

Honda has unveiled the updated CBR500R and it looks so much better than the current model. The specs would be announced in afew days time

HONDA has just announced a round of updates to the CBR500R for 2016.
Revisions to the A2-compliant middleweight include a new look, upgraded forks with adjustable pre-load, a larger tank, an adjustable brake lever and a new exhaust.
It's not due to be properly unveiled until October 15 at the American International Motorcycle Expo in Florida.

      Re: Update Honda CBR500R

I am now pretty much convinced that the new design language being displayed with the 250RR and now the 500R is an indication of what the next Fireblade is going to look like. Normally manufacturers make smaller bikes look similar to the flagship litre bikes but I think Honda is going the other way here like this. There is no word on any rumor regarding the development of a Fireblade replacement model yet but for some reason the internet is or was abuzz that a new Blade will only see daylight in or after 2017. The present SP more or less seems to be taking the temporary transition phase till then.

Somebody has imported a CB500X in CKD condition last month. No idea if its some rich individual who smartly brought it as spares for local consumption or if HMSI brought one down for road evaluation aka testing purposes. If it was HMSI then there would be parts number listed on the shipping bill which is missing. So it most likely is some individual importing it from Thailand for himself.

        Re: Update Honda CBR500R

I hv a feeling that this will make it to India. Honda left a huge gap between 250r and 650f. I thnk they didn't update cbr250r to bring in the new 250rr and 500r to fill in and dominate the market again.

A CKD may not make much sense. It would find difficult to find a positioning as a CKD. It's porky at almost 200 Kilos. Don't know how much weight savings would be made by the redesign.(although that hideous can ditched should at least mean 50 Kgs saved). Power output wise it's no winner, and is competing with the 390s with a 'mere' 47 horses. I don't see any reason this would be picked over the Ninja 650 for almost the same price.
The only way this can be in India is if it's made here. Then suddenly you have a fully faired Twin Honda against quirky looking KTM singles. I see most Junta picking the Honda over the KTM for a few thousands more. But localization means it's not going to happen anytime soon!

Hmmm....true...it ll take time.....n it is restricted to 47 horses coz of that A2 compliance thing...if ever it comes here...we should get the full fledged one

They didn't even bring CBR300R which the public was craving for, I don't think Honda would bring this instead of another commuter which it knows it can bank on.
