  • Tokyo Motor Show 2015: Honda Launches CBR400R , looks sick!!!

At the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, Honda has unveiled to the press and public the fully faired CBR400R. The Japanese motorcycle maker claims it to be an extremely versatile product that offers supreme riding pleasure in the city as well as on the highway. Going by our experience of the CBR offerings, this one too is expected to be a comfortable sports motorcycle.
Hiding behind the fairing of the CBR400R is a 400cc parallel twin DOHC 4-valve motor that is expected to have the refinement that Honda is renowned for. In terms of looks, the CBR400R looks sharper and a lot more aggressive than the smaller CBR250R as well as the CBR650F. The gold engine casing, massive chrome exhaust and the CBR650F like colour scheme are other noteworthy design elements. The CBR400R sports LED lights at the front as well as at the back.
Honda has smartly placed the CBR400R right in between the CBR250R and the CBR650F to fill the vacuum that was created between these two motorcycles. Honda says that the CBR400R will soon go on sale in the international market. In the Indian scenario, Honda is yet to bring in a product to go against the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the more recently launched Yamaha R3 and the Honda CBR400R is just the product to challenge these two.

No (concrete) news on either of them (300, 500) coming to India. In my understanding of the ZW article, this 400 would land at our shores.

Liked this than the R3. I will hang around on my R15, till it launches in India. But the real question, is it coming to India? If yes, then when? within 5 years?

If I had a rupee for everytime Honda launched a new bike both internationally AND in India, I would have enough money to buy a Parle-G packet....

The 400R has always existed alongside the 500R. The 400R is for Japanese market and other SE asian market where displacement capacity limits models to 250cc and 400cc. Its like how the Ninja 300 has a Ninja 250, R3 has an R25 and CBR 300R has a CBR 250R, all similar looking bikes with same features but smaller displacement to meet their local licensing and insurance groups.

Just like how the above models are not sold together in the same country, the 400R has been sold where the 500R cannot be sold. There's also a 400F and 400X just like the 500F and 500X. Basically the 400R is the 74cc less model of the 500R and has been exported from the same Thai plant since 2013. Surprised many here never heard about the Japanese spec 400 series before.

This news was already posted in this thread.

Yeah, CB400 with inline 4 was in the market in the past. They sell it as CB400SF (SF - Super Four) even now.

I think this bike was meant to pose threat R3, Ninja 300 and other 250-400cc bike. Honda coming with inline 2 engine for this is enough to conclude it.

Not sure whether they will launch this bike to India or not.

                        Drool worthy.
But, Indians get to to just Drool and not ride. :P
Hope, they build this in India and price it sensibly .

one more bike for everyone in india to talk about for the next year.

and, it's a twin cyclinder, (not made in pune) so don't expect it to be priced much lower that the R3 or N300.

Dude, that's like a difference of 6 lakhs! I fail to understand what's smart about that!

"Honda says that the CBR400R will soon go on sale in the international market. Honda, if you're reading this, please bring this bike to Indian shores and take my money. I've been a Honda fan boy ever since i was little, and i know you guys got awesome knowledge of all things automotive, but are somehow arithmetically impaired.

And please give it a bigger fuel tank. A big bike with a small fuel tank is like a big bloke with small.... hands
