i think you got me wrong, my post was for those who think KTM is discontinuing their fleet. I am all clear about KTM's intention.

        Updates

KTM India will launch the new updated RC 390 that was showcased at the 2015 EICMA motorcycle show in the Indian market soon but the India-spec 2016 KTM RC 390 will not get side mounted aluminium exhaust system to save cost

Its actually a good thing. That side exhaust looks horrible. If you do want a custom side exhaust, you are better off installing one from IXIL if you want. Their RC/Duke model with double double barrel costs around 20k. Gives better sound and probably a very slight increase in performance

The side exhaust was ot just for looks alone...it gave d bike more ground clearance..and as some ppl were complaining abt scraping plastic underbelly while leaned over...it solved that too.

I liked the upgrade..sad that we will not get it..

Regarding phasing out of old models...every company launches improved version of its modelz every few years...and some of them even say that beforehand that they are going to launch an upgraded version...but ktm ceo chose to not say that..instead he chose to say that they will phase out current models. Maybe there is some hidden meaning. Otherwise it is not wise to discontinue a rcently launched and successful product. May be they will have different products for different markets (countries).

The side mounted exhaust was used for euro4 norms.

While i agree with you on this, but still the side exhaust would be better than the underbelly because it increases the groud clearance of the bike, a must for Indian roads.

Exactly my view! The under-slung exhausts make the RCs and the dukes so much different than the 'regular' bikes. Not that I hate side mounted exhausts but I do hate badly done side mounted exhausts. The p220 and the Ninja 300 exhausts, to me, are the best looking side exhausts in India. The revised RC doesn't even come close. I am glad the Indian RC retains the under-slung one.
