Agreed, we don't like others to decide what we do with our time.

I like playing android-games while I take shit, needless to say, it often takes longer than it should.

We're all going to die eventually, all that matters is how and when.

That fancy hashtag only worked for a day or two. Three days later everyone on social media stopped posting it and then its back to being dirty again.
The moron who asked the country to follow it himself hasn't done zilch to clean the holy city like he promised he would so why would his fans fair any better?

People who are buying second hand cars and illegal stickering/number plates are just the catalysts to this pollution. If they feel proud about their actions, they will in the near future be responsible for the worsening condition of their own city. They only have themselves to blame when their kids and relatives spend more time in the hospital getting treated for something that was preventable.

The "moron" is the Prime Minister of the country. Do you expect him to move the Parliament to Varanasi, so that he can bother with supervising the cleaning of the country.
The moron has to deal with National problems, not with Municipality related matters (which cleanliness is)

The "moron" wants YOU to take care of the the cleanliness. Have you ever wondered why the Metro is clean and the Roadways buses are not? Because YOU and ME dont feel responsible towards the country. Thats what the "moron" wants to address.

And this is the gentleman who was the first person to be challaned

The first prosecution for violating Delhi government’s odd-even scheme took place at ITO junction about 33 minutes after the restrictions became operational at 8am on Friday. The offender, who was slapped with the stipulated Rs 2,000 fine, told police that he was heading towards his office and there was no convenient transportation facility from his residence near Pari Chowk, the intersection between Noida and Greater Noida, said a senior traffic official.
“The offender, who was driving a car with its registration number ending with 2 (even), was prosecuted at the ITO intersection around 8.33am,” the official said.
“The offender claimed that he knew about the restrictions but had no other option,” said the official
So is your Mr. Wise Guy, The Eternal Elixir of All Wisdom and Knowledge Mr. Kejriwal going to extend the Metro to Pari Chowk with immediate effect, or is he going to let people take 3 days off and make a rule against firing people who are absent on odd days.

remember, volunteers means AAP workers. this is simply a way to fund AAP by stealing taxpyer money. AAP following the west bengal left model.

my dear, that hashtag was 'meant' to work for a day, specifically the last sunday of 2015.

but yeah, let's call people who are trying to do a good thing morons. that will show 'em !!

              .
Well if he could not keep his words, maybe he shouldn't have made any promises in the first place. Why make tall claims that you do not intend to keep?

He also promotes Make In India but drives around in imported bulletproof German cars while his predecessors made do with Made in India Ambassadors.
Learn from Obama, guy drives around in a Cadillac that's GM made, flies around in a Boeing that's also US made.
That's how you promote Make in "insert your country". You lead by example, not just put the onus on others and fall back on your promises.

Exports are spindling downwards btw, so much for making anything here : Fall in exports projected to be worst since 1952-53 - The Hindu

And why do you think I am a Delhi CM follower/supporter? I'm only here pointing out another idiot(by your own standards that is) who too asked his followers to clean it up while he pays other people to keep his own office surroundings clean.
Aren't you basically paying the govt the cleanliness tax aka the Swach Bharat tax so they can clean stuff up? Why does one have to pay that tax to the govt if one has to clean the trash themselves?

              1) Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan was not meant to work for a day, it was supposed to be a forever movement. It didn't work past 3 days.
              2) Showing one or two social media post of people randomly cleaning stuff does not indicate that everybody else is following it or that they are even doing it as part of any movement. People have been cleaning stuff on their own well before that hashtag even came about. One google search will be enough to show you that.
              3) "but yeah, let's call people who are trying to do a good thing morons. that will show 'em !!" - Funny, because the pic you posted is basically saying the same thing that volunteers who were there to ensure the odd-even plan works are basically "haramkhors".
              4) "dont pay the municipal cleaners"- Also funny because MCD is ruled by the centre, not the state. You know the same people that were hogging the camera with a broom for photo-ops?

Also let me summarize the whole argument here. You had no problem with one idiot's clean India b.s. where despite you paying him taxes to clean up the country, he made you clean up your own surroundings even though there's a department built to do just that and which functions from the tax payers money, but you have problem with another idiot who is pretty much asking you to do the same thing albeit with atmospheric cleanliness by taking public transport for 3 days a week without charging you any special tax for it?

Btw I would request the mods to clean this thread up. It went from being a news to a political mud slinging contest real quick.

                1:
Exactly. Why is Shiela Dixit not in jail. Because AAP had 50 page evidence file against her ?
How did a anti-corruption crusader hug Lalu Prasad on stage?
Why is an anti-corruption crusader shielding a bureaucrat who's office was raided by CBI ?
Why did Gadkari win a defamation case against AAP recentlly? For the power company meter company relation etc.
Why did they make false claims against Jaitley, and later their own constituted committee absolved him of all claim, and then AAP said that their own committee is not to be taken as the gospel truth. o.O

                49 Lies of Arvind Kejriwal

2: Manmohan Singh using a Merc S600. An armoured car weighs about 5 tonnes. You need a 500BHP engine atleast. Also,youtube.com /watch?v=v=o1djwCCE5lw
AFAIK, the SPG declined to upgrade the scorpio, because it would need a new engine, new chasis to take that weight etc. Modi prefers high CoG vehicles. But the SPG said that a 760 Guard had already been ordered, and upgrading the scorpio would entail further expense.

First let India develop a decent car, then we will talk about using it.

3: I really hope you are joking here. Germany's head(s) of state goes about in Airbus A340s. A Boeing 767-300ER was purchased by the Chinese government for use by President Jiang Zemin in 2000. Just because India doesnt have an Aeroplane industry means Modi shouldnt have a plane? Oh, wait. India doesnt have Aeroplane industry. Blame BJP. How dare they? Also the jet was ordered by the predecessors, not by him.

4: From the article you linked to.

5: not my term. I didnt use the word. Stop labelling other people's terms against me.

6: If we pay road tax, why do we have to pay toll plaza? And the clean India cess is 0.5 percent. Really. 5 Rupees for every thousand. Is it too much? Now lets compare it to how much Switzerland pays. https://www.organicconsumers.org/new...al-our-garbage

7: I deny that claim of yours.

8: Whats your point, again? Keeping neighborhood clean is figured in all old hindu scriptures like puranas upnishads etc. Much like everyone knows that he should drive without drinking. Still we see hoardings of Dont drink and drive. By your logic we should remove all such hoardings, because people know it. They serve no purpose. Modi created the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan brand. He did not invent Swachh Bharat. PETA promotes vegetarianism. PETA did not invent vegetarianism. To criticize PETA for promoting it is stupid. To criticize Modi for promoting swachh Bharat Abhiyaan is equally stupid.

Q.4 Why has SBC been imposed?
Ans. SBC has been imposed for the purposes of financing and promoting Swachh Bharatinitiatives or for any other purpose relating thereto.
                Q. 5 Where will the money collected under SBC go?
Ans. Proceeds of the SBC will be credited to the Consolidated Fund of India, and the CentralGovernment may, after due appropriation made by Parliament, utilise such sums of money

Key word is "CONSOLIDATED FUND OF INDIA"

9: not directed at me, so I'll ignore

10: MCD is governed by MCD. They have their own elections. And as for the salary is governed, it is to be paid by the state. So by my logic, MCD is under state.

the points are mostly addressed and I will not waste time trying to wake one who is pretending to sleep.

oh and btw, "volunteers" who get paid heftily for their work are not volunteers but freeloaders. and given the fact that delhi govt has not recruited these people from common people but from among its party cadres mean that this is a violation of constitutional equality as well.

                  meanwhile,

didn't we hear from AAPis about how people who were buying extra cars were morons and such ??
seriously, this govt is so much fun. comedy gold, reminds me a bit of george bush and RaGa.

Articles from BJP run media sites. Pioneer owned by Chandan Mitra If that was a legit article, it would have been prime time debate worthy by now especially on Times WOW

Not a single mainstream news article has posted on the same which would give said journalist the huge paycheck for exposing it in the first place and the media channels a huge prime time debate opportunity for 15 days.

I guess this thread proves a good point. Those opposing the odd-even test are doing so because of their political alignment. They don't give a damn if the people of Delhi suffer from pollution.

Sisodia is seen cycling, the other 4 are carpooling between Gopal Rai's Innova and another car. Maybe you should get your facts right before you post screenshots from your politically affiliated websites and social media forwards.

or may be it's the 600 Cr ad spent doing its work.

of course, pioneer has a great reputation, it's journalists broke numerous big ticket scams, including the 2G scam while other news outlets were busy singing paeans to the scammers .

Give me an assurance that I will not get my wallet stolen in DTC bus (happened 3 times) or my cellphone nicked (happened , can you believe it, 5 times). In a period of 5 years.

Can you give me an assurance that my GF will not be groped by random smelly people in the bus.

Can you give me an assurance that the Metro will not look like this. http://www.thehindu.com/multimedia/d...D_1160938f.jpg

Can you give me an assurance that if I pay for an AC bus, I will not encounter crowds such as this http://curiousmindbox.com/wp-content...resdefault.jpg

And rest said, I ALWAYS travel by own vehicle, no matter how good the public transport. (call me Jeremy Clarkson, if you will)

And those who know me will testify that I've ripped BJP to shreds on some of their policies too. (some of the xBhpians i know on FB, please do the honours)

                              Dear Guys,

                              A teacher once told me:-

                              Great minds discuss ideas,
                              Average minds discuss events,
                              Weak minds discuss people...

I have a humble request for you all:- let us keep the debate to a level which you can use in an Interview's Group Discussion and still get the job.
Let's not make it a XYZ political Party vs ABC Party or any other keyboard war.
Because, nobody is the ultimate saint, or the ultimate devil either. We're all just infinite shades of grey. Me included too.

There's no point oppressing someone's political beliefs, because then they will oppose yours, and it becomes a mudslinging game, in which no one remains superior, no matter how logical you are.
Those who have kept the discussion sane, sincere thanks for that.

Some suggestions on what we can discuss are:-

                              1. What were the bad points of this rule? What were the worse ones, which need immediate attention?

                              2. Can we formulate a better idea to end Delhi's population rush and pollution problems, that is also acceptable by public, & practical in nature too?

                              3. What can we do, as General public? How can we use Petition platforms like change.org, jhatkaa, etc or other online resources in which all can participate?

                              4. How can we as bikers contribute, considering we're almost a minority in the huge New Delhi population?

                              Thanks guys... Please continue...

So, can you give us some ideas that will instantaneously reduce the pollution levels overnight ?
As for your request for 'assurances' , its up to the citizens (i've mentioned this earlier too) to behave themselves and only so much any govt can do. Lets say you decide to grope me (or not have a bath or flick my wallet), it would be stupid of me to blame the government for it
You do have the freedom to use your own private vehicle(s) , and remember there will be folks who will point a finger at you (me, and others as well) and say 'look at that idiot, he has 2 vehicles and is polluting the environment'
So unless someone suggests a better way (again another debate would arise on this), we are left with no option but to try and stick to the rules and let the cribbers continue their duty online (i would be surprised if one you guys filed a PIL in a court regarding this or for that matter any issue)
So let us keyboard warriors stick to our battlefield and let the babu's do their thing.

agree with everything except the above.. I think maybe lower emissions, but definitely the two wheelers outnumber the larger automobiles.
there was a recent reference to the number of new vehicles being registered yearly and the number of two wheelers was around 60% and around 33% of the emissions where from the two wheelers according to one report
If enough buses were added on the roads two-wheelers could also be barred from the 'exempted' list, said AAP.

The exemptions announced for Delhi government’s odd-even vehicle policy have diluted the measure and it may not meet the goal of reducing air pollutio

Let the ball start rolling and changes be made along the way.
