  • Bike Riders Arrested in Mumbai.

Oh My God!!! 125 Bikers arrested in Mumbai for creating Havoc on Mumbai Road. I would like to thank the news channel (INDIA TV) for bringing such wonderful news to the JAAAG-RUK Viewers. What a wonderful coverage! Kudos!

Oops! Did I mention that the above statement was the Most Sarcastest (though such a word does not exist as per the dictionary) Statement I have given in ages? I fail to understand why is the Media head over heels after The Bikers? I understand a few of us may not be very sensible riders, and a few of us are a pain in wherever! But the way media is propagating the whole thing, I feel as if being a biker is more heinous then any other heinous crime on the Mother Earth. India TV always has a BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

No, am not defending any of the culprits. Never will I do it till I breathe my last. Its just that am strictly against the Beep beep beep and one more beep again, way the beep beep beep beep news channels (INDIA TV) bring up a news like that. The way they said it was as if the entire biking community in India or Elsewhere is anti-social, does drugs and what not.
Also, I am against the beep riders who ride in such a fashion that brings disgrace to them, to their family and the entire community on the whole.

P.S: I guess the footage showed one Desi bike with an X mark on the rear. I hope and pray that I am wrong this time.

Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

Save the Tigers! Only 1411 (excluding ME) are left!

This is my entry in the blogging world!!

    News Moved and Approved..

All the media requires is some masala to thrive on, more so a channel like India TV. I read this piece of news on the Times Of India website this evening, but the number of arrested bikers were substantially less (21 bikers).

Anyhow, it is said they were racing somewhere in or around Bandra Reclamation/ Worli Sea Link. And that "X" stickered bike, I hope, does not belong to some xBhpian. Guys, if anyone has any wish to race, etc. it is always better to do so under controlled environment (like a track) and not on the main road(s) else this is what happens - arrests and the subsequent hooplah created by the media against bikers.

    Ride safe!

This is the news excerpt off Zee News website:

21 bikers arrested for racing on Worli sea link

Mumbai, March 30: The passion of riding cost 21 youths dearly as they ended up in lock-up for daredevil stunts they were doing on yet to be inaugurated Bandra-Worli sea link route in suburban Bandra here.

The bikers, who usually race on newly constructed route on every weekend, were arrested last night following a tip off. The police have seized their bikes.

According to the Bandra police, the sea link road which is yet to be inaugurated is usually used by these bikers every Saturday and Sunday.

"Acting on a tip off, the police men reached there only to find out that some youngsters were riding bikes at a breakneck speed," senior police inspector Prakash George told reporters.

"Our men intercepted them. We have seized all bikes after apprehending those involved in the racing," he said.

When asked does this racing involve money, he said, "They organise these racings just for fun. Money is not rolling in these races. The youths seem to be crazy about bike riding."

The arrested youths hail from Dharavi, Navpada, Kurla and Bandra (E) areas, George said.

Movies like 'Dhoom 2' are what inspired the youngsters to conduct such races, he said.

"In Dhoom 2, Hritik Roshan zips away on his bike. There are other films as well where bike riding was picturised in a glamorous way. Such scenes are prompting youngsters to go for such races," he added.

Around 19 youths in January and 30 in last year were held on similar charges, the officer said.

"Such races were stopped for a while after the police took action. When we learned that again races were being held, we swiftly acted and arrested those involved in this," he said.

what a fkkin bullshit man.. I always dreamt of riding on that BANDRA-WORLI Bridge after it's fully constructed.. The authorities were already considering not to allow 2 wheelers on that road and now after this bullshit by some BEEP BEEP ppl.. i don't think they will ever allow 2-wheelers on that road, what a waste man... these BEEP BEEP always created nuisance around that area, they even use to harrass and provoke some sane riders passing around that bridge.

events such as these might not have taken place had there been a race track around Mumbai (applies to other Indian cities as well)..

hope somebody realizes that its about time..

I wonder what the cops are doing on "badi raat". Maybe they just chicken out because they are outnumbered.

These riders are usually very "LS". Because of such idiots the cops trouble responsible people like us. I guess we are outnumbered by these "LS" bikers too!

I din't had balls to ride on that Mahim Church Road.. there were 100s of them.. and all ripping to their glory.. and our SUPER COPS were doin nothin but catchin only riders takin triple-seats.. c'mon NONE of them was wearing a HELMET and the Cops just let them go.. what the heck??????

The actual problem is that, they need "Profit Reasons" to be bikers like us. Being a biker may give you safety gears, appeal, sense of pride, but no such "direct gain".

There are too many of "Them Posers" on the road. Unless, they are lured to be bikers through some visible benefits, they won't mend their ways. Biking is not profitable for all... So, I guess this won't be the last we see of them. Sadly.

Let the law do it's duty in the meantime.

BTW Mods, could you please substitute "Bikers" with "Bike Riders" in the title. "Biker" is too big a word for guys racing on public roads ...

That's cause many of the motorcyle cops ride without lids themselves.

And yes, I couldn't agree more with Payeng.

IMO, as long as bikers are in existence around the globe, criticism and detest by various group of mortals will follow, whether they ride at 30 kmph or 300 kmph

I would say bikers like these who indulge in unsafe riding should be arrested or penalised or whatever the law orders... But i hate the way media is overhyping and misinformin incidents these days... Any accident in which a youth below thirty is involved on roads like mysore road and ring roads here in bangalore becomes an incident of dragging.. I personally know a family who were so infuriated when the newspaper published that their son was draggin when he met with an accident and passed away... Poor guy was just coming home from a friends house when a truck hit him... And why did they say he was draggin... I think and believe cos it fit in well with their feature story about late night drags in bangalore that day... Media today except for a few newspapers who still believe in providing good news... Care about nothin but profit... And will do anythin to increase their trps, readership etc.. In the bargain misinformin people, defaming people..I feel so ashamed when i say this because i am a student of journalism myself...

That is what my main concern is. Biking and Hooliganism may go hand in hand for some good amount of time, but am against the stupid way the media today (mis)informs the entire nation.

One of us asked...why was I watching such a news! and am absolutely clueless about that. I need to dig deep into my soul to find an answer to that.

My point of starting this thread is not all about INDIA TV or any other BEEP BEEP BEEP news channel of that degree. My idea is
first of all: To all the Mates who take pride in Riding. Make your riding a pleasurable, desireable one and not something just-to-grab attention types. Now that we are on one of the bestest(this is just a superficial word, does not exist in the Dictionary) Biking Community, lets pledge that we all will stay away from Hooliganism. Showing your excellent riding skills in a controlled envoirnment is better than watching the ceiling of some Hospital for good odd months at a stretch.
Secondly: News Channels walaz..... please for God sake, stop stereotyping the entire riding community. If we all were as insane as the rest of others, biking would have been put under some POTA or TADA.
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

The less said about news channels, the better. We have had hundreds of critiques of these Hindi "news" channels in various forums. Being in Noida, i have sometimes been a witness to their idiotic shoots.
The fact is, these news channels are not catering to us. They are catering to a very narrow minded middle class which simply wants to believe and see that bike riders are evil. Hence, they will twist the news completely so that bike riders fit "their" stereotype. Remember the xbhp promoted longest wheelie attempt, the "Belagaam biker" image
A movie like Dhoom has done a lot of harm to our cause. It simply builds on the biker gang image. Also, it has motivated thousands of posers to go about free wheeling on their bikes, without a care in the world.

Now, what can we do about these things. I am pretty sure, nothing. But, we can keep our house in order. Xbhp should not just be a forum, where every Tom, Dick and Harry can login. A Xbhpian should have this responsibility that he is accountable to the community. If some Xbhpian breaks the rules on the road or behaves like a poser, he should be banned. Very hard to implement, but i think this can be some sort of deterrent. Before the Xbhp crash, we had a bikers pledge. Maybe its time to renew and act on it.
