The less said about news channels, the better. We have had hundreds of critiques of these Hindi "news" channels in various forums. Being in Noida, i have sometimes been a witness to their idiotic shoots.
The fact is, these news channels are not catering to us. They are catering to a very narrow minded middle class which simply wants to believe and see that bike riders are evil. Hence, they will twist the news completely so that bike riders fit "their" stereotype. Remember the xbhp promoted longest wheelie attempt, the "Belagaam biker" image
A movie like Dhoom has done a lot of harm to our cause. It simply builds on the biker gang image. Also, it has motivated thousands of posers to go about free wheeling on their bikes, without a care in the world.
Now, what can we do about these things. I am pretty sure, nothing. But, we can keep our house in order. Xbhp should not just be a forum, where every Tom, Dick and Harry can login. A Xbhpian should have this responsibility that he is accountable to the community. If some Xbhpian breaks the rules on the road or behaves like a poser, he should be banned. Very hard to implement, but i think this can be some sort of deterrent. Before the Xbhp crash, we had a bikers pledge. Maybe its time to renew and act on it.
I took the pledge.. and I think it does make a difference. But I'm sure there are posers on xBhp.. how can we find out? I don't think its that feasible..
