Is that an Exhaust Barrel or Rocket Booster?

That fat canister is such an eye sore to an otherwise amazing looking bike. I am sure there are better ways to make the world green

The individuals buying this bike undoubtedly are going to Mod the bike which would most definitely include an aftermarket Exhaust. Maybe this is what the manufacturers think and build those ugly exhausts on purpose.

            Yes there are.
1)Exotic materials in the cat/exhaust- more cost
            2)Detune the engine-less power
            3)increase the engine capacity-relatively less costs-just increase bore/stroke
4)use bigger cans-no costs but eyesore

Most have opted for the last 2. Junior Panigale had to get that twin can exhaust which to me is an eyesore and get a bump in the capacity. The new Firblade had to ditch that short stubby moto gp style can which I so loved as well.Check the can on the S1000RR these days and compare it with what it came out with originally?
The suits in Europe are hell bent to remove the 'king' out of biking frankly. No 2 strokes, no wheelie, noise laws, power limits(France has a blanket 100 bhp limit) and now the emission norms. If you have to wring power out of a small engine you need to reach stratospheric rpms which means more emissions.

About time they released this baby, have been waiting for the gsxr to get gizmos.
The can is fugly, you either get used to it, or go after market. I think, they always made the cans big for what ever reason.
A bit disappointed at them ditching the mirrors with indicators and going for the ugly ones.
I like the R1000R, though it's an overkill for the street.

Is it me or does the front resemble Hyosung expected sharper design from Suzuki.
