    Had to rez this thread, what was the aftermath of this incident? Was there a manufacturing defect in the Helmet or was the helmet already compromised prior to hitting the track?

    Could not find any follow up article...

      It was being reported that the guy was suffering from fits(seizure or epilepsy) during the race which led to the fatal crash! [emoji20]

        Had been searching for helmets last month and none of the stores in Chennai had MT or Kranos in stock and the unanimous reason they gave was this incident. They had stopped selling this brand because of the sub-par quality. (These are their views and not mine)

        OT: But its available in Spartan and new models have been updated.

          And they would gladly sell fake LS2's and Vega/steelbird kind of helmets.

          You could find a lot of cracked damaged helmets in track accidents, yes including Bell/AGV. Lot of factors go into it.

          It's really bad that some people think that wearing helmets makes them immortal, and then ride like maniacs on street.

            When Spartanprogear is the Authorized dealer for MT in India. Which stores in Chennai did you check?

            MTs are always available in Spartan and Moto Nation outlets (which again belongs to Spartan but they sell ISI helmets as well in Moto Nation)

            And well don't post about helmet shop keepers views... I have been to many.. They will even say some MOTO GP incident and say that Race Grade helmets are poor quality, in order to sell out their unbranded helmet.

              My wife uses an MT when she rides pillion with me. Hers was almost half the price of my Shark, but guess what the MT is rated 5* by sharp where as the Shark is 4*.
              Both are thermoplastic, but the reason MT can keep prices down is that they don't spend huge amounts on marketing etc like the AGVs, Shoeis, sharks and Arais.
              They are Spanish and think make decent lids. Don't be fooled by stuff doing rounds of internet forums, refer independent tests,ratings and certifications(like Sharp!)

                My thoughts with his family. This is a serious thing to consider. A friend of mine had a crash too and the shell of his helmet (Studds Shifter) which is just an ISI was compromised. He was cornering at our hilly roads around 90kmph. He was left unconscious for around 5 minutes, also told he had a wheezing noise in his ears for long. but survived the accident !
                Very unfortunate incident.

                  Yes. I am aware of that. Enquired out of curiosity I'd buy from the authorised ones only.
                  But Rainbow, Southern and few others were selling MT helmets till around three months back. Shopkeepers views are important because, they 'may' convince common man and degrade the brand. Not everyone researches and goes to helmet shops like us.
