Thanks for sharing this experience Kapil.

Its good that MRF is offering such controlled track rides to media to show its performance prowess early on. We often forget that MRF were the ones who gave us the YZF R15 version 1's incredibly small yet grippy tyres, way back in 2008... Even today, many bikers ask for those tyres, for their League I performance bikes, those around 150-200cc or so...

And its good to see MRF expanding its range to match the imports. Clearly, MRF can provide a better price to performance ratio than the imported tyres...

Stock R3 rear is 140/70 , while they don't have stock front size.

As a biker, it's a dream to pose like #VR46 or #MM93 does on the race tracks
Finally, the day has come, where I could really get my hands dirty on the track






It's not just a normal track day where few biker friends team up, in fact, it was a special occasion where a new curve specialist tire a.k.a #Masseter was revealed by the MRF.


I felt really lucky and honor to witness such a gala event with many known moto Journalists and V-Blogger participated. Everyone was so excited to check the performance of the new tires on the #KariMotorSpeedTrack.




It was a bit cloudy day, in fact, it was raining till the early morning.
Maybe God didn't want to disappoint all the biking enthusiast as the rain stopped and we could burn the rubber on the track


It started with a track walk which was led by the MRF professional racer. He explained all the corners in detailed.


We were given Yamaha R15 with speed controlled limits. To avoid overcrowding on the track, we were divided into 4 groups with 4-5 people in each. For the first two laps, it was guided by the professional racer to show us the lean positions and then the green flag was given to us.


I was riding on the track for the first time so I was bit cautious for the first two laps, but after initial laps, i was getting more confident lap by lap. I could go on more speeds on the corner as a well lean angle. The tires really hold good and I didn't feel any moment that I could crash out.


Our group was lucky as we went in the last and did almost 10 laps as compared to others who hardly got 6-8 laps.


It was a thrilling experience for sure and I can't wait to go on the track again with the bigger horsepower under the hood

While the Zapper C1 110/70x17 and 150/60x17 remain (apparently) the most grippy tyres from MRF in the market presently, and their dry grip is being acclaimed well, their specifically noticeable weak point against the Metzelers was the lack of wet grip.

Let's hope this new tyre proves to be the import substitute, giving high performance at a price we all crave for.


However, they must come out with 150/60 as an alternative for KTM Duke & RC. In fact, KTM isn't even listed on their site.
Even R3 gets recommended a 140/70.
