Looks more of scam to make money by government indirectly.
3% Card transaction charge (either debit or credit) is huge money in long run. This is not being charged in many countries, absorbed by credit providing bank to do business.Avoid noise pollution. Avoid honking. -

There are cards for which specific fuel bunks will not charge the sur-charge; I have ICICI bank credit card which is exempted from surcharge on almost all HP bunks. There are some conditions like the swiping machine should be from ICICI and a maximum limit of Rs.4000/= per day.
Other banks offer other oil-co cards.Comment

Every retailer is keeping POS machine from different banks. This is not possible to carry everyone's card in wallet. Hence more of inconvenience than good. anyhow you are poor by 3% at the end in any of the petrol bunk.Avoid noise pollution. Avoid honking.Comment

Hi,
I filled petrol using my HDFC debit card twice. For 100 INR and 200 INR.
Each I got fuel sur charge of 11.50 INR for each transaction.
Why they charge extra ? Shouldn't the merchants have to pay this from their profit, rather charging to customers?Suzuki GS150R(Balck) 2009- 2012

^^^ Same here. I got charged as well on ICICI, same amount. And this is after the announcement, that they will be no transaction charges on digital payments till 31st December!Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Update: I filled petrol twice on 5th Dec 2016.
The sur charge appeared in my Bank transactions on 8th Dec.Suzuki GS150R(Balck) 2009- 2012

I use my HDFC debit card at any petrol pumps and if the price is more than 500 the surcharge gets reversed within few days. I own a platinum debit card. Hope this helps someone.Comment
