You beat me to it.Originally posted by rachitsharma2000 View PostHahaha... Honda behaving in their usual way: Not giving a damn about customers and being happy selling activas!

Re: Honda to make a middleweight motorcycle in India to take on Royal Enfield
Well, you see, it's not just Honda which loves Activas. The Indian public loves them so badly, they buy it faster than Honda can make them!
Hondas 1.2 million unit, 250 acre, ₹1,100 crore investment scooter factory in Gujarat which is the largest two wheeler factory in the world has reduced waiting periods from one month to 2-3 days.
Honda not giving a damn about which customers?
2.36Lakh people purchased Activas in the month of March 2017.
India contributed 25% of global two wheeler sales for Honda.
We're the minority :- 157 million Indians cannot even afford a toilet. According to 2016 census, only 36% of Indians can afford a two wheeler.Last edited by leech; 04-26-2017, 08:59 PM.

By this same logic, the likes of Ducati, KTM, Harley-Davidson, Triumph etc should not have been able to sell a single bike in our poor and impoverished country. Just saying :P
The point I was trying to make is that Honda ALREADY has Royal-Enfield-killers, they already sell them all over the world (the Rebel range, to name just one). They don't even need to go through the trouble of designing something new to take on RE, the bikes already exist! Just not here.
Meanwhile, the likes of Triumph and KTM and others have taken huge risks by setting up shop in India, and that worked out splendidly for them. It's not even such a huge risk for a global giant like Honda, as compared to other brands.
Honda, worldwide, has bikes and models that would annihilate every major bike brand in India, in every category, and without effort. They simply can't be bothered to try.
I guess I just don't understand the logic. But whatever, their loss I guess :PUrban Gypsies MC

That's a question I've been asking myself too : if the other Japs, Brits and HD can do it, why not Honda?
I think the return on investment for the premium bikes is too low for Honda's standards to actually get them off their asses and work on bringing the cool bikes here.
I could be wrong though; however we are going to have the Africa Twin and the 2017 Fireblade for the well heeled. That two wheeled auto aka Goldwing is also on offer.Last edited by leech; 04-27-2017, 08:01 PM.
