  • BMW G310R Bookings start in Malaysia!

The BMW G310R Bookings have started in Malaysia. Though the bike has not been officially launched in that country with a selling price, but a dealer has invited bookings for the baby Beemer, promising deliveries by June 2016.

The dealer in Malaysia has started taking bookings with a 20% advance down payment. The bike has not yet been launched in Malaysia, but is expected sometime in March 2016.

In India, the BMW G310R was showcased at the BMW Motorrad stall at the Auto Expo 2016. But no official announcement was made as to when it would hit the market or even when would it be launched.

The BMW G310R is the first product to be born of the partnership by BMW and TVS. The bike is to be produced in India for the domestic as well as for exports. TVS even displayed a fully faired concept bases on the same engine: The TVS Akula 310. We would love to see a faired, naked and touring version of the bike using the same platform.

This is where the dealer has invited bookings online for the BMW G310R.

Read more about the BMW G310R when it was unveiled at EICMA 2015.

That's like a 4-5 lakh Indian rupee range. Wonder what the cost would be in India.

That's the price for a BMW.

On the contrary, let's see how it boils down when it comes with a TVS badging. TVS is by far one of the respected QUALITY motorcycle manufacturer. They have a reputation and that speaks with this JV. Let's pray that it doesn't cost a bomb.

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      THE END

If priced rightly. Less than 2-2.3 lacs, this will sell like hot cakes! That BMW logo, Seat, USD Forks, meaty tires everything looks so sexy. I wonder if we'll get the same quality in India. But, we should get it IMO.
If not priced right, then nobody will give a damn. Haha. But, chances are less as it is a TVS.

Please stop saying it's a TVS, it's not a TVS even tho it's made at a TVS plant, just like KTM's are made at Bajaj's plant.

You can take it as gospel that BMW would never compromise on quality, it'll only be using TVS manufacturing facilities. And since it is a tech sharing agreement with no stakes involved, there is all the more reason to believe that G310 would be an exemplary product just like other BMWs.

Apache 200 would compete against Duke 200 and G310 would compete against Duke 390 and would definitely be priced higher than 390. Although, considerably less than TNT 300/Z250. From mechanicals to cosmetics, you can expect everything to be better than KTM.
And if gets launched at under 2 lacs ex-showroom as you said, let me know whenever you're in Bangalore, beer's on me

Official press release from BMW is here : https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...hmentId=336170
If you're too lazy to read it completely, I am writing down some key points:
            • A dedicated production area has been set aside in the factory for production of G310. The engine assembly line is completely new and fitted with
cutting-edge automation and testing technology for every stage of the
              process.
            • Developed in Munich by BMW Motorrad – produced in India (BMW needs to pay its engineers and designers).
            • The final inspection is performed according to
BMW Motorrad standards and includes electronic functional testing as well as
a final run on the roller test bench for every motorcycle.

All in all, production of the new BMW G 310 R is subject to the same quality criteria that apply to production at the BMW Motorrad plant in Berlin-Spandau.

Also, you can try to be a bit polite while replying to other fellow-xbhp family members even when they're wrong. It's a forum to enhance each other's knowledge and not a competition to declare your superiority. Not that you care, but please don't spoil the discussion with contempt or derision. I have seen it earlier as well. We all are bikers, bikers are brothers. Let the brotherhood prevail. Cheers

They are not just creating a separate production area but they are also importing German manufactured machinery and tools for the production line. Also BMW Personnel will be training and supervising TVS workforce designated for the manufacture of the G310. Lets not forget something here, Bajaj owns half of KTM's stakes and so they can call shots on KTM's decisions. TVS does not own anything of BMW, they are merely in a Tech-sharing agreement. TVS has to play by BMW's rules. I am not fanboying over BMW and thrashing Bajaj but I keep faith in a brand like BMW and their quality assurance

That being said, BMW Motorrad (their motorcycle showroom name) is present only in Mumbai and Bangalore (and Mangalore I think). I think they will try to build more establishments in various cities before launching the G310R because I believe the G310 is targeted at the mass population and without enough network, it would be useless to launch that bike here.

Which again can mean something and that is, it might be a while before the G310 actually launches for Indian market
Hope this clears up alot of questions that you clearly do not know any answers to.

It's a BMW, you will be paying a premium over other bikes in the market, just like you would for a Harley.
Just because it's made in India doesn't mean it will go low on quality, BMW is a Ultra Premium brand and they will stay that way, even if you don't like it people will buy it because it's a BMW.

Why not? Even KTM sells for 4.5-5 lakhs abroad. And if it is manufactured at TVS's Hosur plant, then definitely TVS ought to be able to give it under 3 lac (tops). & yes, it is a BMW not TVS.[emoji4] [emoji4] [emoji16]

Introductory price might be lower then KTM 390 to kick start it in India I assume.

Anything with a sub 2.5 lakhs price tag will make it a winner in India.

Never going to happen. From what we have seen from BMW, this will always be a premium product and will never come down to KTM pricing as Bajaj has been pretty aggressive with their pricing. I would be surprised if the pricing on this is even in the same league.

I feel 2.25 lacs is the limit for bmw if they really want to capture the market share in 300cc segment...
