Old Fazer looks better than this.
Old Fazer? This is the first time a Fazer 250 has been launched.

I referred to that FAZER (FZ 16) 150cc design.

Yamaha could have used the design of Fazer 150 and modified rather using the headlights of FZ 25.

I think there are quite a few things here. IMO the design doesnt look as appealing as it should be.

They probably tried doing something similar to Honda CBR650R with single headlight setup; and it seems that it doesnt suits the bike.

Few of the reasons why Yamaha might have came with this design is:

          - They want to keep the cost in check; by introducing twin headlight the cost will increase. Looking at the picture it seems that they build flesh around current FZ25 headlight.
          - By designing the fairing this way; they might have made an attempt to keep the weight as low as possible as this is the least powered bike in its segment.
          - The designers might have taken inspiration from Honda CBR650R to design it around single headlight.
          - As others have pointed out that design of fairing could have been made to make sure that the engine have enough air flow for oil cooling unit.

We all can just discuss and predict why Yamaha might have done this thing. Only Yamaha can answer all that when they launch this bike.

Much better colour combo than red-gold.

Looks exactly like a samurai warrior! With the horns and helmet.

Looks like the sole purpose of the fairing is to keep the headlamp from vibrating

I don't understand. What's the difference between this and the fz25? Body fairing? Looks pretty much the same except the front.

Haha. Seems true. And the front from diving due to lighter handlebar.

I was waiting for this bike. Didn't like the looks enough even though I'm a sucker for fairings. Went for the FZ25 yesterday.
