What I can understand from the ruling is that Cess is for initial 5 years to compensate the states for loss of revenue.
The exshowroom price will be same across the country but the RTO taxes are out of GST so that can be determined by the state govts.
Prices will increase where tax is less and it will reduce where the tax is high currently.

Sad news for many upcoming RE riders... They will have to pay more for less power now compared to Duke.

This is the all important time for us ordinary folk which is the only time we get to excercise our decision to bring about a better life for ourselves. Think about it, no matter how much one raves and rants after a government is elected does anything really change, until the next election. Then the various political parties spend tons of energy, time and money to get elected because they know it is the only time they will get a chance to form a government. Therefore it follows that we too as citizens must pay attention when we vote.

I think the thread is going off topic!! Taxes are a way of life in today's Day & Age (unless you live in Middle East).

also Even now all of us whenever buying a Car/ Bike do end up paying taxes in one form or the other to the tune of 20-25% anyway. So I don't think it's really something to overreact.

Thankfully by this atleast they'll be curbing on Car/Bike registration loop holes, Here in Mumbai you can find tons of Car/Bikes either Delhi registered or from remote places of Maharashtra. Which is nothing but a simple jugaad for Tax Evasion (something the our country is diseased with).

Ideally the Road Tax should also be uniform to make this a level playing field. Maybe barring a few states where construction & maintenance of roads are more laborious eg. all High-Mountain states.

If we just think that the government is here to only support the Manufacturers then also pls pay attention to the following:

I'm still laughing at the fact that they think a motorcycle more than 350cc is "luxury". Lol. So that Bullet 500 is now "luxury" which means your existing 600s and 1000s will make you on par with the Saudi Kings and their car fleets.

Wonder what the tax system is for the minister's fleet of new high end SUVs that they seem to be buying every 3 years from our tax money.

In Maharashtra it is 13.5%. that is after excise of 12.5%. so it's 1.125*1.135 = 1.276 I.e. almost 28%. Not much impact. Dominar will get more expensive by around 3.5k in Maharashtra.

Vat is lowest in union territories generally and Delhi is generally the lowest in large cities. So in Delhi the GST impact would be the highest.

So rise in cost won't be more than 5k right? as in now the d390 in Bangalore costs 2.83lk so after GST it'll be max 2.88lk.
