How does this work, will the triumph enter into lower capacity models or just network support like the kwaker.

Bajaj Auto & Triumph Motorcycles Tie up for low to mid capacity motorcycles.

Bajaj Auto & Triumph Motorcycles Tie up for low to mid capacity motorcycles.

Triumph Motorcycles, the epic British motorcycles brand has always attempted to take premium motorcycles to the masses. While most manufacturers "fulfill their duty" by launching CBU motorcycles at prices of 1 or 2 premium cars combined, Triumph went the distance to introduce fast motorcycles while somehow maintaining their premium. But the journey was not quite easy... Triumph fell into disputes with issues related to detuning their motorcycles to meet requirements, but claiming wrong power figures for these, plus a major safety issue (sudden stalling) on the previous version of Street Triple, etc.

Now it seems Triumph is on a new journey, with high hopes. Few Days ago, we told you about mild hints of a possible partnership, which we misinterpreted to be with Ducati, here:- https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/38...g-meeting.html

Anyhow, Bajaj Auto on Tuesday (08/08/2017) announced a global partnership with UK-based Triumph Motorcyles. The tie-up is a strategic non-equity partnership "to deliver a range of outstanding mid-capacity motorcycles benefiting from the collective strengths of both companies," Bajaj Auto said.

Bajaj Auto managing director Rajiv Bajaj, himself at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) last month had admitted that the missing piece of the puzzle for the company lay in the "easy riding or lazy riding space".
"This new global partnership will enable Triumph to significantly expand its global reach by entering new higher volume market segments, especially within the emerging markets across the world. Bajaj will gain access to the iconic Triumph brand, and its great motorcycles, enabling it to offer a wider range of motorcycles within its domestic market and other international markets," Bajaj Auto said.

Now, for the main part. Let's see what they say about the products coming out of this partnership....

So guys, it was Triumph all the way... What do you think about this? Do you think that making a "lazy motorcycle" (or a Cruiser in our language) was missing from the lineup?

And lastly, would it be enough to deal with Royal Enfield?

This is great news!! Bajaj-KTM entry level, this new mid range and the Top end Triumph bikes..crazy line up! Now it makes sense why KTM is not getting any bike higher than the 390.

Don't think ktms agreement would allow anything similar to that, let's see.

Re: Triumph UK announces a new partnership with Bajaj Auto for mid range motorcycles

Bajaj already have bikes in the 400 cc class. Triumph range starts from 675 cc which may be revised to 765 cc if the new Daytona follows the Street Triple engines.
Therefore the space this partnership has seems to be the 400 to 600 cc class. Methinks single/twin cylinder bikes only because I don't think they're going to put in a triple for such small displacements

I hope they launch something in REs segment. Who have been arrogant and ignoring all the quality issues.

I doubt that even if they did it would make any dents on RE sales. RE will keep selling more and more of their bikes unless the mindset of the people changes.

What does Triumph bring to the table?
It represents the last piece that was missing in our global motorcycle portfolio — a premium, easy-riding brand.

Why did Bajaj Auto/KTM pull out of Ducati?
For two good reasons: too much overlap with KTM and a valuation that is beyond our limited comprehension.

Thanks to the increased sales of bigger bikes in India, the mid segment is growing. To fight the guns from Enfield, Bajaj brings in even bigger guns from Britain.

This is going to be an epic war! Expect a 'Bullet' killer in the future.
