• Kawasaki finally hands over the motorcycles to the aggrieved SNK Palm Beach customers.

Few Customers are alleging that the Palm Beach Kawasaki dealer (Navi Mumbai) has now gone rogue. That means, the dealership is neither delivering the bike (even after 90 days of down payment now) , nor refunding the booking/advance money, nor promising a confirmed delivery date....

Kawasaki on the other hand say, they haven't received any money from the dealer.

A customer who seems to have contacted a Kawasaki manager, claims that the manager says that they're helpless on the matter.

Its too early to give a judgment, but we'll be keeping an eye on the case....
Until there is further clarity, I request xbhp members not to be judgmental, but for now, AVOID GIVING BOOKING AMOUNTS for the sake of your money's safety until this matter clears up.

If we have people residing in Mumbai, why not talk to them directly and confront him in this case. Could that be done.

It's foolish to book a bike now a days, if a showroom can't afford to keep such bikes then it's better to go to another showroom that has the bike readily available. Even it's an imported one, Z800 sell like hotcakes, even better than the versys I guess. If the Porsche guys can keep 3-4 cars worth 6+ crores, the showroom can easily keep 1 crore worth of bikes.

We're not talking about Hero Honda showrooms here.
That dealership is an authorized Kawasaki dealership (listed on their website). So people placed their orders through them.

Not all dealerships get to place orders for premium offerings. Word is that this showroom/dealership had to shut shop for quite sometime, why they kept taking orders is another thing. Maybe they just wanted to dupe the customers with all the money and ran away to cover some losses of theirs. Maybe there's more to the story.

To many variables but Kawasaki must step up before this news spreads like wildfire especially on social media because that would lead to an irrevocable loss of customer trust.

P.P.S - Versys has been outselling Z800 and Porche showroom cars are display/customer cars. There is a minimum waiting period of 6 months on all their offerings because 2 Porches are hardly the same (interiors, inserts, colors, alloys, materials used etc).

re: Kawasaki Shuts SNK Mumbai Dealership, new dealership soon!

Apparently the story goes like this where earlier the dealership of SNK kawasaki which comprised of two brothers, one off which named S and the other NK, split after some differences. S went on to open the palm beach dealership at Vashi and brother NK continued on with the dealership in Pune selling and servicing KTM and kawasaki. Then NK also had some issues with Bajaj Auto and closed down the dealership which was referred to as SNK Wakedwadi. NK went on to become CEO of Ducati Maharashtra and Goa and has recently quit his post there as well.

In the bigger scheme of things, this news of brother S is disturbing and unfortunately paints a sad picture for kawasaki in India. I hope Kawasaki reads this and sorts out the matter at the earliest.

And I was thinking of ordering a Ninja 300 from khivraj later this year, seeing as there were no complaints about Kawasaki dealerships...now an incident like this has got me thinking again if i should go with them . Can no legal action or police complaint be filed against the dealer?

N300, Z250 etc have no issues. Z800 and above are dicey. You can approach other dealerships for N300, but Z800 and above were limited to this dealership AFAIK.

Honestly, i know it is probably a one off case and when I visited the khivraj dealership last weekend to enquire, they were pretty Professional. However, this kind of situation is what worries you, the dealer holding customers to ransom and in this case absconding. I personally dont think its Kawasaki's fault, however unfortunately it affects their image and they need to step up and take responsibility and handle the situation as fast as they can.

The action would be against kawasaki itself if it was an authorised dealer as kawasaki is vicariously liable for their dealer's action because of principal-agent contractual relationship.

Well you don't have to worry about that as I am sure its mostly a dealer related issues, nevertheless something Kawasaki can't ignore, but here in Bangalore, we have a good dealer at Langford KTM on Double Road for all the Kawasaki bikes under 650 cc as I recently bought my ER-6n through them and it was a very pleasant and seamless experience and even the branch manager went ahead and took me to the warehouse where the bikes were stacked to select the one I wanted and I rode it back myself to the showroom to get the registration and other processes to go on and I am one satisfied customer, so you can go ahead and book your Ninja 300 through them, if you happen to go there, ask for Suresh Joshi (branch manager), or Pavan (sales executive), they both are avid bikers themselves, I am sure you won't be disappointed.

UPDATE: Kawasaki releases official statement

Kawasaki has released an official statement on the matter, which yawns at our concern. It just passes off a, "Cool. Fine, we'll take care of it" vibe...

But at least they are acknowledging the situation, but now is time for action, which I'm sure they must be doing.

kanth, thanks for the useful piece of info .

As much as yes at end the finger is pointed at Kawasaki. How do manufacturers normally keep a dealer in line all of a sudden if he decides to do something like this.

I mean this dealer has been planning to do this for sometime and of course I dont know how this things normally work while ordering these larger capacity bikes, are customers ask to put down such large amounts before being alloted a bike? I thought the booking is normally not a large amount and that only after a bike has been allotted that we pay some amount and the rest on delivery. Correct me if I am wrong.
