As an endorsement of the brands racing heritage, the Aprilia SR 150 launch event was hosted at Hard Rock Caf in Mumbai and was also attended by world Superstock champion Lorenzo Savadori from Italy, who has been associated with Aprilia since the start of his racing career. In 2015, Lorenzo won the world championship with four victories and seven podiums through eight races aboard the Aprilia RSV4 RF.

Built around Aprilia brands philosophy, Designed For Racers, Built For riders, the Aprilia SR 150 is being manufactured at Piaggios plant in Baramati andperfectly blends the cues of motorbikes and scooters. With this distinctive positioning, the Aprilia SR 150 is set to carve out a new category in the countrys booming two-wheeler market, which has evolved from being need-driven to one dominated by differentiation and aspiration. This is evident from the impressive response received by the India Motoplex Stores, dealers and Piaggios e-commerce partner - PayTM, who are successfully securing the bookings.

The Aprilia SR150 is powered by a 150cc SOHC air-cooled four stroke engine. The large telescopic front forks and 14 inch wheels with 120/70 section tyres on front and rear gives an aggressive stance to the scooter. The instrument console is a rather simple with twin pod analogue unit for speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer. The fuel tank capacity is 7 litres and seat height is 775mm. Braking duties are performed by 220mm disc brake at front and 140mm drum brake at the rear.

Commenting on the launch, a delighted Mr. Stefano Pelle, Managing Director and CEO PVPL said,
It is with great pleasure and humble anticipation that we finally launch the Aprilia SR 150 today and extend our India product portfolio. Here at Piaggio India, we have all been waiting with baited breath to extend the Aprilia experience from the race track to the streets of India with the Aprilia SR 150. Its racy, its sporty and it promises to be a cracker on the road! From the initial response received, it appears that the market has been waiting as well. With this truly unique and powerful crossover, we are confident about creating yet another first in Indias two-wheeler segment and continuing our vision to bring truly innovative and never-seen-before products to the market.
    Added Lorenzo Savadori,
I am thrilled to be here in the vibrant city of Mumbai, to represent the brand Aprilia which I am associated with. The brand represents beautiful and agile racing bikes which are designed for racers and built for riders. Aprilia SR 150 is an example of the brands philosophy - the crossover bike has all the elements of the racer bikes in terms of its looks, styling and experience of riding but on the other hand it is also as convenient as the automatic motorbikes. Ive had a wonderful and thrilling experience riding Aprilia SR 150 on the Indian roads. Its so Aprilia! India, Its race day!
The launch event also saw the unveiling of an exclusive line of Aprilia merchandise which will be available through the Motoplex Stores and dealerships across the geography.

I have booked a black SR150 on paytm couple of days back. Yesterday got a call from the dealership stating that a test ride vehicle was available with them and I can check it out. I went there, had a look at it. The vehicle was there, but the SA said that it's been there hardly for 10 minutes and he doesn't even have the keys with him , enquired about onroad price and other details, which, to my dismay were not available with them. The SA asked me come down today and promised to give me the break down of OTR price and details regarding accessories et al. I was/am quite interested about the vehicle itself, but now having second thoughts about it, not that it's bad or anything but with doubts whether it will serve my intended purpose. I guess it will serve me well as a daily commuter but I am concerned about the weekly/monthly vegetable/grocery shop visits.

I guess this is kind of mix-up of parts from Aprilia! like they have Motard SR scoots with engines ranging from 50CC, so they have the chassis and parts with them, then they have this 154.5CC engine made for Vespla VXL/SXL readily available here in India.. voila we get the SR 150! I hope that we are not going to be guinea pigs.

Took a test drive yesterday, I am sad to report, now I am searching for ways to cancel my booking on paytm. I do accept that, the road conditions and length of test drive were not ideal to enjoy the power of the engine, but for me it was ruled out for two reasons, 1. seat, it's strictly a single person seat, if you are heavy or tall then you will find it difficult to sit comfortably and not at all suitable for me as I was looking for a scoot to commute short distances with wife. 2. Stiff suspension, test drove Suzuki Access shortly after and the ride felt more sorted on Access.

I was really excited to see something new, and still hope it does good numbers just to encourage other major players to bring new designs/concepts to the Indian market, Maxi scooters, cross breeds, etc..

Damn, It was written - Order cant be cancelled. Hence I had not booked mine. After reading so many reviews on teambhp and other blogs, it seems like a scooter for College goers/Single people. I will testride once, when it comes to showroom here in Sept. Or else Suzuki Access is finalized. BTW, this scoot I will b buying for dad.
