  • India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd is official

"Things have been moving at a fast pace for Yamaha in India. After the recent success of the R15 / FZ16 and FZS, the Indian Government recently approved Yamaha's proposal to transfer its Indian sales business to a new entity -- India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd.

Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd (YMISPL) had sought approval to transfer its business to India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd (IYMPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co, Japan.

The proposal, which does not involve fresh investments, has been approved, an official statement said.

Yamaha's proposal had been deferred earlier by the FIPB following objections raised by industry ministry saying that allowing import would lead to retail trading.
The board later cleared it after Yamaha said there would be no retail trading.

In its application, YMISPL had sought to transfer its business, including sales of two-wheelers not only manufactured in India but also imported from Yamaha group companies outside, along with other products such as all terrain vehicles, generators, golf carts and unmanned helicopters.

Does this mean Yamaha will foray into ATV in the coming future? Unmanned helicopters too? Bring it on guys! "

Can someone explain what retail trading is?

(I assume it to be something that can "hurt" the local bike manufacturers)

now they can produce the whole lot in india itself instead of importing n assembling

Yes of course, what most of us normal bikers with meagre income here would appreciate is if they could give us the international machines at the same (or slightly higher) price which they sell at abroad. Then I would surely enough get myself an R1!

R-1-5 and FZ are only the Testing Platform for Yami in India....
As they are new to the Indian Terrain - both of these Bikes are for tesing purpose....as Yami wants to learn a lot in it....

So in the near future we will definetely grab our hands to the Higher siblings of FZ and R15........

Definetely a 200 from any of these two models in the near future.....

150race is currently ON so ..... 200 race is on the near future.....

                          Imagine....

                          R2
                          FZ200
                          RTR200
                          Pulsy200
                          GS200R
                          UNI200 ......Crazy Kya ree......

Very true Yam wanted to check to see if their new version bikes would be successful in India or not and then you can see the result and now they would be definately looking for something big now.... so am eagerly waiting for it.....
